• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I am getting frustrated sifting through Kia Dealers trying to find those with inventory that are willing to sell at MSRP. I am starting to wonder if maybe the Hyundai sister might be the better option...it looks like they are built in South Korea, not US...maybe that is better for quality control? I like the more muscley look of the Telluride but am sick of waiting...anyone out there decide to hop to the Palisade? What tipped the scale for you?

Thanks,

Its fair to say most of the Telluride ppl on this forum will tell you its an inferior vehicle in nearly every way. Go snatch one up if you can get one with the options and price you're after. I think it boils down to styling and slight differences in options vs pricing and waiting for the Telluride of your dreams.

Do whats best for you, we chose this BA machine personally bc the Palisade is well, the red headed step child imo

I think it's primarily a matter if aesthetics. I prefer the analog gauges in the Telluride, and I think the front of the Pallisade looks awful ;)

To put it succinctly, one is called a Telluride, while the other is dubbed the Smelluride.

The stinky seat issue scared me away. Can’t even imagine spending 50k to have a vehicle that makes you want to vomit. With Hyundai having no answer to addressing it either.

And yeah, it’s kinda ugly also.

For me - analog gauges and also I don't think I coul dstand a car without a shifter I can rest my hand on while driving LOL.

I personally don't like the the front end of the Palisade. That grill is just too chunky for my liking.

The quilted interior does look nicer but that chance of a funky smell isn't very appealing also.

I am soooo glad I asked. Did not know about the FunkyTown upholstery issue on the Pali. I have a beeline on a Telly in upstate NY at MSRP....fingers crossed that It all works out.

Ditto - I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the Palisade at all! One thing that Drew my to the Telly was that, the first time I saw one, I swear I thought it must be a new Range Rover!

From the side, to me, a Palisade looks like a Pilot. For me this is not a good thing.

The power side view mirrors were one factor that swayed us to the Telluride since we have fairly narrow garage doors. We also preferred the Telluride's looks.

I test drove a Palisade and, inexplicably, it just made me feel angry and annoyed. I'm not sure why. The push-button shifter was definitely one factor. I was also driving the lowest trim and it left me disappointed after watching reviews of the Highest end trims.

It’s just such a personal thing. I had chosen the Palisade over the Telluride because of the styling. I actually like the button shifter, and as a package, it was just more differentiated from the Traverse I’ve been driving for 11 years. But I decided to take a closer look and test drive the Telluride, and it seems to ride smoother on the Michelin tires. And compared to the Palisade Sel Premier edition, which was my price point, the Telluride offered more features for less than it would take to move to the Limited edition in order to get the same features, like the surround vision cameras. We decided to go with the Telluride SX AWD, mats and no other extra packages or options. The smell people mention seems to be associated with the nappa leather version of seating. The Palisade has power fold 3rd row seating, which isn’t available on the Telluride. That strap flips forward when the seat snaps down and can’t easily be reached, so I would have liked that. Palisade also comes with 3 years of maintenance included, Telluride none. The Palisade is a nice car and you can’t go by what Telluride chest beaters think. Lol! Of course, the price/package advantage of the Telluride is lost if you can’t get one at msrp. My dealer sells at msrp, others don’t or refused to place an order. Keep looking and go with your gut, not someone else’s.

And the hotter it gets outside the stinkier it gets inside.

Yeah, in South Texas that is no bueno.

I think I mentioned this in another thread, but in Southwest Florida tell you rides are plus $4500 over sticker plus $2500 dealer fees. 5 miles down the road, Palisade are at MSRP and if you take a 2020 they are 1500 below MSRP.
In basic terms of features etc, they are mostly equal vehicles.. I won’t pay over sticker for ANY vehicle strict on principle...so the choice is easy really...

I agree with what our friends mentioned. I do not love the alien looking face of Palisade regardless of the interior issue found out later. Plus I am still not a fan of digital shifter found in Palisade.

technology and engineering are similar for both cars. The build quality in Korea is 10 times higher than the production in North America, this applies to assembly and materials. The customer service for both is terrible.

Like many, I've considered Palisade when I couldn't locate my Telluride. One of my local dealer was advertising $1800 off of MSRP, but just couldn't get over the looks on Palisade. Looks are subjective and some find Palisade better looking than Telluride. I am the opposite and I knew I would have regretted getting the Pali over Telly. Searching around, I found few dealers selling at or few hundred below MSRP so now I am few days away from getting one.
