Piano Black trim (on B/C pillar) easy to scratch?

I'm not a fan of piano black in my cars (or speakers) because it scratches so easy. My question is has anyone washed these pieces of trim on their Telly and has it scratched or does it withstand the elements/washing pretty well? Thinking of wrapping with a film...

Yes, after 9 months of ownership, I can attest that it easily has swirl marks after using manual car wash bays. I do not use the sponge and bucket method washes, which would probably have some reduced swirling. Probably impossible to keep it swirl free without ceramic coating/PPF unless you polish it regularly.

Has anyone removed any of the piano black trim pieces and applied a ceramic coating? I've heard complaints about how easy the piano black is to scratch, swirl, show fingerprints, etc. plus it catches glare. If the pieces are standard plastic/polymer, I should theoretically be able to apply a thin layer of matte black Cerakote, right?

I keep a microfiber cloth in the glove box and wipe it down and the touch screen just about every time I drive (almost a reflex now). There is a post on here about a carbon fiber print material one owner used to cover the piano black, looked good.

Yeah, I'm seeing this VVivid Vinyl film as well that people use for stripes, blacking out trim, etc. I guess the good news is when the piano black gets all scratched, it can always be covered.

When I had my BC SX-P paint protection film installed in August, the installer suggested wrapping the pillars as opposed to the rear bumper. I said ok. Based on the discussion here that was a good choice almost 1600 miles and no scratches. I also hand wash mine and use turtle wax ceramic spray wax.
