• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Palisade vs Telluride...should I go there?

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
technology and engineering are similar for both cars. The build quality in Korea is 10 times higher than the production in North America, this applies to assembly and materials. The customer service for both is terrible.
I know your experience is different reading your thread, but there are few leaked videos of Hyundai/Kia assembly plant taking "quality" care of vehicles built in Korea. :) I don't buy the whole "Made in USA" thing, but I wouldn't put any weight in "Made in Korea" either. :)

Like many, I've considered Palisade when I couldn't locate my Telluride. One of my local dealer was advertising $1800 off of MSRP, but just couldn't get over the looks on Palisade. Looks are subjective and some find Palisade better looking than Telluride. I am the opposite and I knew I would have regretted getting the Pali over Telly. Searching around, I found few dealers selling at or few hundred below MSRP so now I am few days away from getting one.
Tonight I was in line to get gas at Costco and there was a white Palisade at the pump in front of me. I kept looking at my Telly, then the Palisade, etc., and thought to myself, “yeah, I made the right choice.”

Thank you everyone for your replies. I found a Telluride at MSRP that had just arrived at the dealer, so I hopped on it. I love it, and am glad that persistence paid off.

Congrats. Please posts some photos of your new baby.

As a Palisade owner, I just wanted to offer my reasoning. I would never consider a Telluride or any other Kia not because they're not great cars, but because the only Kia dealer within 100 miles is the lowest POS I have ever encountered in over 40 years of buying new cars. Not only are they rude and incompetent, but they are flat out dishonest. They serviced my 2015 Kia Sedona for 4 years until I finally said enough. They try to sell services that aren't needed, and they screwed up the simplests of services (brought it home once after a service and it dumped the entire crankcase of oil on my garage floor. They forgot to tighten the drain plug). My daughter tried to buy a car there and while I was with her they were polite and friendly, but when I returned from a restroom break I found three of them leaning over her like vultures with a contract on the table and trying to get her to sign it. I asked to see the contract and one of them immediately picked it up and walked out. These guys take sleeze to a new level, and when I complained to Kia corporate all I got was empty promises to "look into it". My Hyundai dealer has been nothing short of outstanding, even taking over the servicing of my wife's Sedona until I can dump it for a 2021 Santa Fe. I wish I could have considered a Telluride, but the dealer is a critical part of the equation and I will never, under any circumstances, deal with my local Kia dealer again. Just for the record, my 2020 Palisade Limited does not have any odor, I actually prefer the push button because of the extra storage in the center console, it did have the dreaded wind whistle which the dealer fixed and I don't mind the grill. If I did there are several after market grills available. I've put 16K miles on it in the 13 months I had it (including 2K miles pulling a trailer) and have no regrets.

Disgusting behavior by that dealer. I don't blame you for moving on and I certainly would have done the same. It is great that you found a good dealer to work with AND a new car that fits your needs.

Good enough reasoning! I like the paddle shifters, too. And that extra cubby.

Forgot to add, those of you Telluride owners that are lucky enough to have a good dealer have a GREAT car that's going to give you lots of good years. Congrats on a great choice.

So, the two of us pass a palisade in the neighborhood all the time and we say to ourselves that we made the right choice.

Many of the things people have said here are shared. The ‘smell’ issue wasn’t a concern for us. The smell issue was only for the top trims and we wouldn’t have gone that high

I think it comes down to exterior aesthetics and how comfortable you feel in the cabin.

We weren’t a fan of the front alligator nose of the Palisade. I didn’t mind the side profile, but I do think that the Telluride looks more ‘mean’. I love the front of the telluride. The grill is striking. The power mirrors on the Telly were a bonus, something the palisade doesn’t have. I do prefer the wheel well edging of the palisade over the plastic on the Telly. That was one of the biggest things that was turning me off of the Telly tbh

Inside, the biggest turn off for us was the push button gear shifter. We also liked that there were cup holders in the center console rear of the Telly vs the palisade having them in the door pockets. We liked the traditional style of the Telly. The rest of the interior wasn’t that much of a difference, sans the power 3rd row.

Lastly, the Telly has roughly 4ft more of cabin cargo space vs the palisade because of the boxy build.

The rest is about the same.

I’ve not yet had to deal with any local KIA dealers regarding service, but I hope they are better than your description. I just gave a Hyundai Santa Fe to charity to get the Telly and I will say that their service department was professional and top notch.

Hopefully, they'll fix the snout on the Palisade for the refresh.

Too bad about the sleazy dealership; if a dealership group owns a # of brands, they all tend to follow the script (be it good or bad).
