• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Trade Q7 for Telluride?

This seems a bit stubborn.

If the Kia is the best value in the market and nothing else can beat it, why not pay MSRP.
Maybe on a lower end trim this is fine, but on the SX or SXP, this is a foolish mindset. Especially if it is based off of some legacy mindset you have that you must have a lower than MSRP to be getting a deal. The SXP at MSRP is a steal.
Not being stubborn, but I am in no rush to buy it right away, I can wait. Since most of us are wfh now, and will be driving less. I am in research mode right now.

I just purchased a ‘21 Telluride SX a week and a half ago after having three consecutive Audis. A8L followed by an S8 and another S8. I am an Audi Club member and have attended many AudiSport Experience events over the years.

I feel your pain regarding the cost of upkeep with Audis out of warranty. Even basic upkeep is extremely expensive as you found out with the Audi brakes. At the end of my ownership with my most recent S8 I had a passenger side dash AC vent malfunction. I found out that vent dial was not a mechanical control like every other car on the planet but rather an electronic potentiometer that controlled a tiny motor inside the vent. The replacement vent assembly cost $800 and it worked for about a month before it began to fail again.

So far the Telluride has been great for us. I find the driver‘s assistance features in the Kia to be better than I had with my Audi in most respects. The lane keeping assist is better and the adaptive cruise control is less aggressive. However I found the 360 overhead camera view to be better stitched and less distorted and the parking sensors more sensitive on the Audi.

We miss the massaging seats and the extra horsepower of the Audi but the Kia UVO connected car features and infotainment system seem more advanced than Audi’s MMI.

Another difference between the two brands would be the overall ownership experience. With my Audis the dealership would bring a loaner Audi to my home or business and take my vehicle in for even routine services. With Kia this will not be the case. But that is the difference between a “luxury” brand versus a mainstream one. I heard that Kia’s sister brand “Genesis” offers this door to door service. Too bad they don’t have a sufficiently large 3 row for our needs. The GV lineup looks promising and perhaps a GV90 is on the horizon.

Another difference between the two that I’ve noticed is the paint quality. My Audi‘s paint was always flawless. The Telluride has a fair amount of orange peel especially toward the back of the vehicle. But, of course, I’m comparing the Telluride to vehicles that cost almost 3 times more when new so this is not unexpected in my opinion.

So with all that being said, the Telluride is a great vehicle and I think you’ll be more than happy with everything it has to offer especially in the higher trim levels. The ownership experience will be different from your Audi but as long as you know what to expect you will be fine.

Our dealership doesn’t provide any of those services except a loaner. I also hav e Toyota so know the non luxury dealership experience. But it’a a nice perk to have when offered and we had that with Mercedes when we leased.

I have reached a point where I think non luxury cars provide more and with less maintenance headache. I actually have a Toyota RAV4 and was going to get a Highlander and stumbled upon the telluride.

are there any issue with it being a new car is my biggest concern and I think, we will get used to a slightly non luxury interior although the SXP looks nice.
You are right the genesis gv loos good but again the Q7 price range.

side note. Anyone use carvana to sell instead of trading it in? Is the used car market down?

Lots of raves on here about Carvana prices offered for purchases. Used car market is/was up a couple of months ago.

Do you have the model 3 or model y. I think my main concern is the fit and finish is still not up to par for the price of the car. We are basically paying for the awesome technology. I have heard that the telluride lane keep and auto pilot is similar to Tesla’s not sure how true this is.
We just have the model 3 so I can’t speak to the model y. There are some things that I do find odd, like the fact that there isn’t a power lift gate and a few other things that even mid-range cars have but the Tesla doesn’t. The other thing I hate is everything being on the touch screen. If I want to adjust the ac I can’t just feel around the dash a little without taking my eyes off the road for a second. Lane keep and auto pilot on the Telly honestly is really really good even comparing it to the Tesla. It is definitely not as good or as reliable as the Tesla though but still honestly great and it screams at you less to squeeze the steering wheel. Obviously the telluride doesn’t have the ability to put in an address and the car just goes there like the upgrade on the Tesla is working on (we don’t have the upgrade so I’ve never used this particular feature). But all my nitpicking on the Tesla is honestly just bc it’s such an expensive car I think they could do a little better. However, I absolutely LOVE driving the Tesla. There is nothing on the road with faster pickup. It’s incredibly responsive and is just overall wildly fun. Just not practical as an only car for a family imo at least where we live.

Long time german car owner here. I love the driving experience, design, and fit & finish of these vehicles. Have had several BMW's (still have two vintage 02's) and sold my Audi A4 Avant to buy the Telluride. I'd been looking for a 7 passenger AWD vehicle for years but hadn't seen anything on the market that came close to what I like drive. The Telluride nails it. Exterior design, interior design, handling are beyond best in class IMO -- it easily competes with vehicles $20k - $30k more expensive. If you like the German cars, get the SX Prestige package.
I couldn't agree more! The bang for the buck you get with this beast can't be beat. The first time I saw a Telly in a Costco parking lot, I was 50% sure that would be my next car to replace an aging Hyundai Santa Fe. After some research on the Telly and going to look at one at a dealership, that 50% quickly became 100%. This thing really does live up to the hype.

I bought my Telluride on the New Years Day 2020 after locating the exact trim and color I wanted (SXP Green Moss ext & Dune Brown Interior). Paid $2500 over MSRP after hours of negotiation at the dealership. Despite not being able to drive the car a lot due to COVID, looking at it sitting at my garage gives me so much satisfaction. Automobile is a piece of art, and for some reason Kia does it right: The car looks very expensive, drives really well and I am still being stopped by strangers complimenting my car. At this point in my car hobby (just sold my leased Lexus UXh to "Vroom" after one year with it and getting ready to find my next small car) I am totally in love with Genesis/Hyundai/Kia. There are so many cars I want to own, including the Genesis GV80, Kia Sorento especially the Hybrid/Plugins (I had a 2017 SXL), the redesigned Hyundai Tucson, and even the cheaper models like the Kia Soul (practical and fun!). I can take any of these cars in a heartbeat....

In my garage I have a Telluride SX-P, a Mercedes S550 4Matic, and an Audi SQ5. All three are awesome in their own way.

If I had a Q7, yes, I would trade it for a Telly.

Would I trade, my SQ5 for a Telly? Heck No! The 3.0L Supercharged drive train is phenomenal. I step on the gas to make the Telluride move, and by the time it starts thinking about it, the SQ is gone! At 65,000+ miles, the SQ5 has only needed regular maintenance. I live in the moment, so I don't let the fear of how much a repair might cost enter my mind. If that happens, I will deal with it then. I'm handy working on autos, so I do most things myself if needed. Parts, if you shop around, aren't that much more expensive on a LUX brand. Heck, most Audi parts have a VW counterpart for less anyway.

Good luck deciding!
