• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Purchased the EX with halogen headlights--Interested in replacing with plug and play LED headlights. Any recommendations on brand (Lasfit, Auxito etc etc)? Also any recommendation on LM--is there too much since Lasfit is less than Auxito? Any install issues I should be aware of, or is it as easy as plug and play? thanks, BRD

I purchased a set of Lasfit based off recommendations from other threads on this forum concerning headlight replacement. I haven’t installed them yet but apparently some LED’s can cause faults on the system. Lasfit is supposed to be plug and play. I need to get my set installed

Ok thanks for the information-- any recommendations on brand of LED and light output --6000 vs. 12000 in terms of blinding oncoming drivers? Also--with the LED, any need to add fog lights if the field is better illuminated with LED?

Ok, but does not quite address the question--

I tried to answer the first question; don’t know about the second

I bought Lasfits initially but wasn't too impressed by the light output for the headlamps. I bought another pair from Twelvolt and seem happy so far. The lumens are brighter but haven't had a lot of night time driving to see if incoming drivers flash me. I have an EX and I'm keeping an eye out for OEM fog lights still, just because I like the look of it and not so much the utility.

I think you might be mixing things. Despite saying Brightness the “k” is for kelvin and it is a rating for the color temperature. If you simply want to match the white of the DRL then anything around 6,000k should do it. By comparison 3,000k looks more amber and 12,000k is such a bright white that it may have a little blue to it. But 12,000k may need extra cooling as that will take a lot of electricity. When it comes to glare and blinding oncoming traffic that is the lumens rating. For that I think anything around 7200lm provides enough illumination for you without blinding the oncoming drivers, but I would not go too much higher or you could see some glare. The other thing to consider is dark spots in the field of view. That can be created by the shape or thickness of the end of the bulb or the LED chip placement and how it projects in the Telluride projector meant for halogens. I have the Twelvolts and I’m more that satisfied that they resolve my problems with the OEM bulb.

thanks ---, I do know the difference--looking at lumens not the wavelength--just concerned for the high lumens may be blinding to oncoming driver--as is--I put in sealight 6000 lumens per side which did not work--even though others able to install--so either bad batch or other issue--I will try to the LAsfit noted in this earlier thread and go from there. 7200 lumens per side seems pretty high from the range of LEDs I have seen on the market--Any news on fog lights? Do you need them if you have led headlights? Is KIA have OEM fog light available to be installed at dealer? thanks BRD

With the LEDs I have I’m satisfied without fog lights as they help in the foreground. I also try think that by matching the DRLs they help the DRLs work better than when the bulb was amber. I’m still looking for aftermarket fog lights to adapt just because but I’m in no rush. No way I’ll spend the money on the Kia ones.

Got my telly yesterday, and installed some auxito mini led 9005s. They are amazing 2-3 times brighter. It is important when you install led bulbs that you realize the default position of the led is not calibrated for your car and probably in the wrong position. You will want the leds to be facing 3 and 9 o’clock once seated. I experimented with 12 and 6 which I saw on YouTube, but it was horrible. Love them and recommend.
