• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Today I was driving Kojak to the post office to pick up a package when some azz-hat in a super muddy pickup truck blew past me on my left side. I saw it coming - a decent sized rock - straight at my face! There was nothing I could do but grimace. KA-POW!! It hit the windshield. I was sure that I would have a nice big crack or at least a nice big chip, but alas, when I inspected the glass after stopping, I could find nary hint of where the rock had hit. Is it possible that they have started installing stronger glass? I was truly amazed that I didn't have major damage.

Well first, thank goodness that nothing really bad happened. You didn't involuntarily swerve. It didn't go through the windshield. And so forth. Having the windshield come through unscathed is a nice bonus! :)

Nice bonus indeed. I was virtually certain that I was going to be getting a new windshield. After reading some of the horror stories on this forum, I was expecting the worst.

There's hope yet for the Telluride windshields (y)

Yes!! I'm happy for you that the worst case scenario was avoided. No trips to Kia Service or SafeLite or wherever else for you. Perhaps the glass is stronger? It sure makes for a quieter cabin :)

Anyone know if they upgraded the glass after having a lot of windshields break?

You're reminding me that the day I drove my last Honda (new car) off the lot - back in 2013 - on the way home, a truck spit up a piece of gravel at my windshield, putting a chip in it, AND I got a flat tire! Luckily, the chip was small and low and over by the passenger side. It never developed into anything. I turned around and went back to the dealer to fix the flat. Just one of those days.

LOL..I would have sped up! Seriously, sometimes when I see those darn dump trucks or construction trailers with backhoes coming up behind me, I try to stay ahead of them!!

We drove from NM to MI this summer and the whole friggen 4200 miles I was on pins and needles waiting for my windshield to crack. It did not. I was relieved. I know nothing of an upgrade in glass other than I have heard, through the handful of FB groups that I belong to, that the letter that was sent to 2020 owners was not being honored on 2021 models. It's hearsay but, if it is true, then maybe they did figure it out. If not, then who knows.

If they did upgrade they skipped over mine. My windshield got hit with a rock a couple weeks ago, 2k miles. Was on the highway, early morning, still dark out, didn't see anything, just heard it. That's awesome there was no damage to yours.
