• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Went from Troy Missouri to Memphis to visit my son over the weekend so 1st road trip with the new Telluride. 339 miles each way and then used the Telly for running around a few places. I have the SX with prestige. Had the wife and 14 year old granddaughter.

For the positive things I did found the seats to be very comfortable. The HUD was great. Used Kia navigation and the projection onto the HUD was fantastic. On some less then great roads the car handled very well and the ride was also very good. I have been using a 2002 suburban and 2006 GMC 1500 as comparison. The gas mileage was 25.6 on the way down and 27 on the way back. This is by the readout on the dash and only 1000 miles on the clock. I did have a good tail wind on the way back and a fair head wind on the way down. Transmission was flawless and the smart cruse control was great. LKA and LFA took a while to get used to yet i ended up really liking it. Overall found the vehicle to be great and look forward to driving it for a long time to come.

There were a couple of things that were just OK. The seats were a little on the hard side yet yet still supported well and as i said comfortable. The navigation will get you there yet picks some very strange routing. When leaving home to get me to the highway it took some VERY strange routes. Knowing the area i did not follow its directions and went the best way (the way google maps uses). While in Memphis we used Kia maps also and found out there it also did not use the most direct way. Again it got you there yet not the best way. So far that is the only things that i would say are negative. The vehicle is very nice and i am happy with my purchase. Just hoping all of the tech in the car holds up for the long run. I do keep my vehicles for quite some time.

For navigation routes, I used to be a big believer that Waze or Google always knew the best routes. Now I just compare the times for arrival and try not to focus on the route itself. Waze will take you through local roads sometimes just to shave a minute off the total travel time. In this case I always prefer just to stick with the highway.

Maybe a map update can give better navigation results? Did you do the update to the latest before leaving on the trip?

I tend to agree but I've noticed Kia navigation can drastically change the ETA for the better without me changing routing. As an example, coming home form the inlaws, it'll frequently say 1:45 or so, when I know it's less than 90 minutes. I'll keep shaving minutes off on the highway, but all of a sudden it'll drop by like 10 minutes. It's happened a bunch of times.

I find Kia Nav to be pretty good, not as good as Google maps (nothing beats it) but better than any other car's Nav I've used in the past.

I plan to just use the Google maps and project it to the screen. That way I can still see the speed traps :)

No factory navigation systems are ever on par with Waze, Google Maps or even Apple Maps.

How do you plan on projecting it to the screen? I know there are some aftermarket products available just curious what you plan on using.

Pretty sure just talking about carplay or android auto on the head unit. Kia does call it phone projection in their menus.

KIA's navigation routing can be really strange especially in more rural areas. I used KIA's routing for one route I drive every year to go camping in rural Wisconsin. You pass through a lot farmland. KIA's routing made me do a weird "staircase" like route cutting through the county roads. A lot of driving on gravel, and passing farm houses. Google maps has you driving on the county highway with very minimal intersection and turns.

Had the same experience with a couple other rural trips I've done.
