• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... We have owned a 2020 SX since January 2023. Last Thursday we were driving to a softball tournament for my daughter when the engine started knocking I attempted to get off at the exit and couldn’t because of a tractor trailer, went to the next exit as I’m going to the offramp the engine decided to grenade, it blew the number four connecting rod through the block and blew out the oil pan! 65253 miles! Waiting to hear back from corporate about the repair. We are the second owners, so it’s 5/60k
All maintenance has been done. Has any one else had this happen??? Hoping fo a good outcome.

So you knew it didn’t sound good and decided to drive it and not pull over immediately. I know you wanted to pull off the highway for safety but it caused more damage.

There was no shoulder just the guard rail supposed to pull over in the middle of a lane? With my family in the car.

Not in New England. Ideal Shield is the mfg. 🤣 But truly I pulled over as soon as it was safe for myself and others. I’m a career firefighter, have seen to much bad stuff happen.

Don’t blame the OP. Safety of the family is more important. KIA has a problem with these engines that they should own up to and do a proper recall. My engine was replaced at 38k miles because it was about to blow up. Mine was consuming oil like a drunken sailor and KIA told me failure was imminent and not to drive it. They gave me a loaner while they waited 2 weeks for an engine from the factory. I hope you get KIA to step up and do the right thing.
