Youve ordered a 2021 and if youre getting a Tow Package it should be a 7 pin connector.
The recall is for the 2020 model year which has a 4 pin conector apparently only good for a brakeless trailer less than 3000lbs or surge brakes on a 5000lb trailer.
The the fix is a new harness.
I had installed an an adapter to the 4 pin on my hitch to connect to a 7 pin on my camper for electric brakes on the 4000lb camper. Part of the install was to run a 30 amp wire from the adapter to the telluride battery.
Aledgedly the 30 amp wire powers the running lights, electric brakes, brake lights and charges the campers battery.
The adapter uses the Telly's brake lights to trigger the power to the trailer brakes.
I've yet to have a trailer connected to my Telly to test it.
My brake controler is a wireless Curt ECCO brake controller that plugs in into the hitch 7 pin and the trailer 7 pin harrness plugs into the Curt Controller. The wireless controller is set up and adjusted with an app on my i phone but the controller in the hitch measures inertia to determine the braking power so it minimally is activated by the brake lights and could independently pick up the inertia of the Smart Cruise Control braking for something ahead.
Needless to say I've got to run some road tests.
A question for the 2021s is where's the brake controller.
Attached is my recall notice.
