In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi just took my 2020 SX-P Telluride in for the second time for a door ajar.

The dealership fixed for free but claimed there are after market electronics in the car causing an the short and want to charge me about $600 for “removing the after market wiring”

The problem is, the Kia dealership have no idea what this wiring is for and also the previous owner and I have never had any work done on the electrical, as everything is original factory parts and no other mods.

The assumption is this will likely short again. Any advice here? I feel like the factory probably put this here but I have no way to prove it.

Some dealers do add GPS/security to cars on the lot to track and disable if there is car theft. Most will unplug the device and leave the wiring when the car is sold. Probable original owner had no idea.....

It also helps to add pictures of the suspect wiring.

Hey, that sucks. I had a similar issue with my car a while back. If you're confident there's no aftermarket wiring, I'd ask the dealership to show you exactly what they’re talking about. Sometimes these places just want to make a quick buck. Maybe get a second opinion from another Kia dealership or a trusted local mechanic. In my case, it turned out to be a factory issue, and they had to fix it without charging me. Good luck!

Hi thanks for the response! So is it possible to go to the original dealership and ask them to remove?

Here are a couple photos for reference of the after market wiring per the Kia dealership.

Definitely not factory. It looks like it is spliced in to power the "port" that is in the bottom left of your picture titled image3. That looks like one of those dealer tracking devices. The original wires have been "punctured" with the splice. You can probably remove them and wrap an little electricians tape yourself. I doubt the original dealer would remove it but its worth a try. $600 is steep. You could try a stereo shop/best buy. They could probably remove it.
