If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2021 Map N Soft Update

What’s the verdict on the 14.5 update? Sounds like things are added & removed, anybody have upgrade regret?
It all depends on your point of reference.

If you already had done the 14.0 update earlier this year, you only have map updates, which is probably unnoticeable to most.

If you had never updated before and were on 13.5 or older, you may notice some changes. Like the added ability to have split screen CarPlay and Android Auto, the change of weather reporting from HD radio to connected services, the addition of navigation routing via connected services, changing “driver talk” to “passenger talk.” The removal of the driving information panel. If you’re coming from super old software, you may have noticeable home screen layout changes. Etc, etc.

I had already done the 14.0 update earlier this year. So I had no real changes other than knowing my maps are as up to date as possible.

No regrets so far. I upgraded my 2021 from the 13-series software that came from the factory. I love the addition of split screen for Android Auto, and some of the commands for the built in navigation system are more intuitive. The only downside I've noticed is the loss of the ability to reorder radio presets.

Additionally, as others have mentioned about the weather, if you have not signed up for UVO (like me) you simply lose the weather widget all together. But I can actually see out of the windows in my car so that's not an issue.

I wish they'd give us something more useful like a 2nd trip or something instead of a gimmicky weather app. It displays the temp on the dash already and like you said, you can see out the window. I'm not exactly going to trust the random weather app that comes factory standard on my car either.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I haven't had time to do a full post but I picked up my 2021 SX-P yesterday and wow....just...wow. I cannot get over how awesome the HDA function is, especially on a 6 hour drive home from the dealership. I'm coming from a 2003 Grand Cherokee so....yeah the tech in this vehicle is downright magical. One thing I couldn't figure out is how to use UVO navigation at the same time as Waze over Apple Car Play. It seems they turn each other off. Honestly I'd prefer to use the built in nav with the HUD functionally, because Waze isn't too great with routing options in my experience, but I don't want to give up Waze's speed trap warnings which are excellent.

The UVO nav doesn't jive well with AA either. It would stop my music app every time it gave me a direction. I would have to go to media, press play and go back to map until the next turn and then do it all over again.

Damn that sucks. Seems this is a really shitty part of the experience.

Just keep Waze open on your phone and plug into the non-data USB port for power.

Have you tried both short and long navigation prompts (change in nav settings) to see if maybe one or the other might cooperate better with AA? If you have a HUD, you will always see when an upcoming turn or exit is approaching too, so might be fine without prompts at all.

I have not. My experience with it was messing around with multiple things while I was on the highway once. I'm still learning about the factory navigation, I spent some extended time trying it out tonight. I think it's pretty good with UVO. If the factory nav turns out to be decent over time I will likely forgo AA and just use bluetooth on my phone when I need nav and I'm not using my mp3 player.

If there were any music apps where Kia gave me the option to fast forward or rewind tracks in AA, I would get more into android auto.

And, I'm slumming it in an EX so I don't have HUD.😉

does the map update fix the speed limit shown on the map for Canada? no I hate seeing the incorrect speed max on my HUD. Lol. Right now I full screen Waze from my Phone through Apple car play.

option to fast forward or rewind tracks

Holding down the skip track toggle in the up or down position on the steering wheel doesn’t work?

No, it just skips tracks. I even tried grabbing the progress bar and moving it. That works with the mp3 player hooked up but with all the AA apps I've tried, it displays streaming in the progress bar and won't let you advance or rewind within the track.

Good thread and lots of valuable information. I'm far from a tech guy and not even sure what version my software is and how I would know it was 14.5? 2021 model-Map Version is NAM 12.47 plus bunch of other numbers.

I went to update.kia.com and it does not even recognize my software that I put in-but don't think I have the latest version? 2 weeks old and dealer said it was latest SW but I hardly think they keep track of this stuff anyways.

12.47 means that you don’t even have the 14.0 update from April. Most 2021 models have been shipping with this old software (13.5), and yours appears to be no different. 14.0 brought maps to 13.41.x, and 14.5 to 13.47.x. Most importantly, 14.0 included some other features, not just maps.

The update site will not list 2021, but selecting 2020 will get you what you need if you want to update.

Awesome and didn't know that was an option-thought it would lock down on my vin number and restrict me from there! Thanks for the quick reply.....

update.kia.com. Log on as a guest, it won’t ask you for anything.

Does anyone have a list of updates this adds or removes? I have a 2021 and currently on Map version 12.47. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!

Here is a document highlighting new features. It doesn’t tell you specifically what was removed, but I can tell you that the Trip Info mini app in the infotainment screen is gone as of 14.0. It also renamed “Driver Talk” to “Passenger Talk.”

I think there may have also been minor changes regarding presets for radio stations, but I have never used the radio (terrestrial or satellite) on my Telluride, so I don’t know or care.
