If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just saw on the kia build site they have updated it for the 2021

The option that caught my eye was the rear entertainment system for $1500. This is the first time I have heard of it. Does anyone have more info on it?

I had the same question. I looked in the accessories catalog. I can only find the 2020 one and it’s not in that, so there were no photos or anything. I’d love to know what this is about

Think there may be a DVD player installed in the rear also. Maybe an owner can chime in and confirm features and functions.

This answers my question. Even if it’s not directly this setup, it’s a pass for me

ew. i'd much rather buy mounts for ipads or another tablet. that tech changes way faster than what's parked in my garage does.

Are the rear entertainment controls integrated into the front entertainment system controls? If you have to control it from the screens in the back, that's basically useless for parents with small children.

Agreed and a DVD player (assuming you still use DVD) in the trunk compartment space with the cargo loaded means you will have the same thing on repeat or you will have to stop and unload the cargo to change the disk. I bought two 10" headrest mounted screens with integrated DVD players that connect to each other for $220 from Amazon a year ago. They also slide off the headrest and came with a 120V adapter so I can use them as a portable DVD player. So my kids can each watch something different or share a screen with the other and the older ones can swap out the DVD themselves. That was over a year ago and we no longer use the DVDs, but luckily there is an HDMI input so we can connect a gaming system, portable device or tablet. But it turns out an upgraded memory card in the tablet for pre-downloaded movies and a headrest mount for the tablet is now the preferred viewing device. WAY EASIER than storing DVDs that get scratched and misplaced over time. With how inexpensive the aftermarket options tend to be, I'll bet I will barely spend $1,500 over the life of the vehicle to have a mounting system for portable tech not made by Kia. The one thing that the Kia tablets appear to offer is wireless mirroring. I purchased a cheap portable USB-C 15" monitor that also supports wifi mirroring so I'm looking at a way to mount that in the Telluride. In 2011 we bought an aftermarket headunit that played DVDs at the front with an aftermarket overhead DVD player that also had an input for the headunit. It served us well for a few years. Seeing the options today, there is no way I would do that again. Inexpensive and easy to upgrade is my plan. If I can get 2 years out of it before it breaks, I'm happy to upgrade.

Good point about the DVD player in the trunk.

We got a $120 dual screen DVD set up that we have used on trips. It has a remote so you can run it from the front. It works, but the cords are a little annoying. The KIA system would have to offer a pretty impressive array of functionality and integration to justify the price tag with what's available in the aftermarket today.

I thought about the wires as well and I noticed in the Kia mounting on the Sedona the wires appear go down into that hard plastic seat back that is also in the Telluride. If there is a trick to pop that back off I’ll bet wires for an aftermarket system could tuck nicely and the plug into the 12v adapter port at the bottom of the console. I use a 2 to 1 adapter and tuck the wires under the seats with tie wraps.

This is the entire crux of it. If you can control it from up front, I'd invest. If not... no way.

Just thought I would share an update of what rear entertainment in the Telluride actually looks like! It's not too bad, was expecting worse given that you can't find anything on the internet about them! They are removable and you can tuck the one wire used to connect it into the seat. They operate with an amazon fire stick. Going to pick ours up this afternoon! These Telly's are so hard to come by... we normally wouldn't get rear entertainment but we wanted all the other features this one had and it would have been months of waiting to build out what was already in this one.... Maybe the rear entertainment will be something handy... first time for everything!

Interesting. This was a "must have" for my wife but several members here kind of talked me out of it. We just ordered last week and I think I can still remove this option.... Now I would love to hear what your experience is the rear entertainment :)

I wonder how those compare to other $750 android based car monitors.

Quite interesting. There's no need for us to have it in ours but I was curious as to what this was going to look like.

I have had these since January and still can’t figure out a way to make them work for our family. We are an apple family and it appears to be only android compatible. I really don’t want to have a ton of cords or tablets. Have you figured out a good way to use these? I’m extremely disappointed with them and the dealership I bought my Telluride from has been no help, nor has calling Kia.

Did you get any extra literature for the system?

The only way we’ve figured out how to use it is to download movie files to a computer and put them on a thumb drive or SD card and play them that way. We haven’t tried it I’m yet but that’s the only way we think it will work until Kia updates software to allow any apps. I agree, it’s been frustrating that it basically is useless and know one seems to know how to make it work.
