2021 Telluride SXP AWD swaying front and back a little when shifted to Park

I have had a Telluride SXP Nightfall AWD for two and a half months. Love everything about it. However, when I shift the Telly into Park, it feels like the body of the car sways front and back a little bit. I have never driven anything larger than an Accord until now, so I am brand new to SUVs. Is this common in the world of mid to large size SUVs? Have any of you experienced this issue in your Telluride? Should I take it to the dealer to get it looked at? Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Are you at a complete stop when you switch to Park/Reverse/Drive? If so, that does not sound normal.

If you are in motion while changing the shift lever, yes I would imagine it would sway, and probably ruin your transmission over time.

I am at a complete stop when I switch to Park. It doesn't happen when I shift to Reverse or Drive. Just when I shift to Park.

When you take your foot off the brake? Or does it happen immediately when you shift to park before taking your foot off the brake?

It happens when I take my foot off the brake.

That's what I figured. It can rock when you do that - I believe what you are experiencing is completely normal in a vehicle this size. If you want to avoid it, engage the electronic parking brake (EPB) first or if using Auto Hold, the EPB will engage automatically.

Especially at grade (incline/decline) any car will rock slightly when you release the brake pedal in Park if emergency brake is not engaged. Definitely more pronounced in taller vehicles like an SUV with higher center of gravity.
