• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2021 Tow Hitch Standard?

I am expecting delivery of a 2021 EX at the end of the month and the tow hitch is an option. Don't know where that document came from but the KIA website still shows the tow package and tow hitch as options on the Build a car feature.

Comes from the 2021 pricing sheet on this page: Telluride Nightfall Edition

Apologies in advance if this is a repost, but am I reading the 2021 specs correctly that the tow hitch is standard on the 2021 EX and S?

Seeing it here: https://www.kiamedia.com/us/en/download/16416/file/xlsx
I’m not sure why it is listed that way on this sheet, but the tow hitch is definitely a $475 optional extra. It isn’t standard on any model. Perhaps it is listed differently for EX and SX models here because those are the only two trims available with the tow package (tow hitch + self leveling suspension), which would include the tow hitch already if that option was selected. Still seems like an unconventional way of wording it.

Also, if you were ordering from the factory, I can’t think of a good reason to get the EX or SX with just the tow hitch when the tow package is only ~$300 more.

Maybe because I don’t want to pay a 67% markup to have some weird shocks on my vehicle?

The primary reason would be because the shocks are more expensive to replace in the future. I did it with same reasoning as you (I don't even tow anything yet) but a more discerning customer may prefer just the standard shocks and other items like airbags for towing.

My main thinking was that if you really somehow didn’t want the special suspension, you’d add the tow hitch yourself later or have the dealer add it. Doing that also might allow you to get your desired vehicle faster because you might not have to wait for a special order or try to get lucky like someone who wants the full-on package would have to do. Which is why I included the qualifier “if you were ordering from the factory,” which you conveniently removed. 😊
