• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... If you purchase the factory hitch or get the towing package, you should have received a trailer brake controller harness. I finally found mine, in the storage well with the metal thing that goes into my hitch and holds the ball. It was not in the glove box as most people have said. This plugs into a connector under the driver's side and gives you power, ground, brake and stoplight wires directly into the factory wiring. It is an extremely easy job from here to connect to the brake controller of your choice. I thought I would attach a picture in case someone was curious.

Good reference; shows the KIA part number for those that want to order

As a person with a 2020 Telluride and Tow Package, I severely wish a wire-harness was available to me. I still have not tapped my brake controller wire into the green brake wire nor passed power through the firewall.

Curt makes a wireless one you just plug into the factory hitch. It’s on etrailer I’m sure Amazon as well. Removes the need of messing with your car wiring and mounting an ugly controller. I will be ordering one.

I just don't want to use my phone as the device to control it, if it came with a dedicated controller, I'd be game.

Hey all, as a follow-up to my post about the wiring harness, on my 2021 S, the connector that plugs into the wiring harness that I connect to my Brake controller is right behind the fuse box panel on the left side. I have purchased a Tow-Pro Liberty brake controller to install (chosen because of the very small footprint in the cabin - only the control knob and also that it does not require any specific orientation when securing the box). When I start my install in the next couple of weeks, I will try and take pictures of everything to hopefully assist anyone as they move forward on whatever install you may have planned.

would love to see some photos.

This is an extremely nice upgrade for the 2021 model if you plan on trailer towing. Saves potentially hundreds of dollars for the brake controller wiring install. Looking forward to the pictures.

Just make sure you are familiar with where the fuses are located and have a few spare in the glove box with you on a long trip. Running the power to the battery with an auto resetting breaker is not an expensive option on a 2020 and still an option for a 2021+.

Not using this 2021+ pigtail and using a wireless brake controller does make for a cleaner install where you aren’t having to mount something to the lower dashboard.

That is true about the cleaner install. Also a nice option if you have more than one tow vehicle and want to switch the brake controller back and forth between them.

Hello all on this post. I have a 2020 EX that had the trainer hitch installed at Purchase. I asked for a 7pin but got a 4 pin. Discussing with the dealership at the moment. They installed the ugliest hitch and a 4 pin connector. It seems that the 4 pin connector is not fully connected. I am just learning about this now. Not sure I feel confident in installing a wireless Brake Controller, Anyone have experience with this?

Did they take you litterally and just physically install the 7-pin connector but not wire it up? That picture shows the socket closed but it looks like a 7-pin round socket. Most aftermarket (which you must use on the 2020) require the 4-pin to connect behind it. They may have missed wiring up the other three connections. If you don’t have 12v power then you can’t use a wireless brake controller.
