As of today, April 2, we are three years and 68,446 miles into the life of our first Telluride.
Use: Commute 46 miles roundtrip 4 times per week; tow vehicle for month-long family summer camping trips across the country; throw the bicycle in the back and head for the trails
Environment: Wisconsin semi-rural; primarily county roads and highway driving
From the dealer: EX-P AWD Nightfall, Wolf Gray exterior, black interior, mud guards
Aftermarket additions: coated Kia hitch with 7-pin, Air Lift 1000 rear air bags, Redarc Tow Pro Liberty brake controller, Canadian cargo mat, WeatherTech floor mats, HomeLink mirror, blacked out KN logos. Many thanks to this forum for suggesting most of these thoughtful enhancements.
Recalls: LCD display replaced, tow hitch (no issues), declined emergency brake software update
TSBs: Drive belt inspected (no issues), front radar logic improvement, no heat at idle logic improvement (not done yet)
Warranty work: Rear AWD coupler replaced
Nightfall trim: Was doing fine, but one car wash in Oregon made it an eyesore. Opted to wrap it rather than go through warranty claim. Wife’s 2022 Telluride nightfall trim has no issues.
Windshield: Took a significant hit to the windshield in Yellowstone National Park. Windshield chip did not spread and was able to return home and take it to Safelite for repair (not replacement). Chip still visible, but no further issues.
Tires: Original tires lasted to 62,000. Replaced with Pirelli WeatherActives which have been solid. Wife’s tires lasted to 52,000. Replaced with Michelin Cross Climate 2s which have been solid.
Oil consumption. No issues yet.
MPGs: Averaging 22-26 MPG (manually calculated each fill, winter on the low end with remote start, summer on the high end); 18-19 MPG when towing our pop up
Service department: No issues scheduling or with quality of work
Kudos: A joy to drive, quiet interior, comfortable seats, excellent towing/handling on our 6,632-mile camping trip to the West Coast this past summer, impressive adaptive cruise, highway drive assist, auto-high beams, third row leg room, cargo space, heated steering wheel, USBs in the rear, ventilated seats, eye-catching amber halos, sharp Wolf Gray color
Criticisms: Highway assist leans heavily toward exits, Kia Access app is pricey after the first free year, Kia app occasionally cannot find the vehicle
Overall: Even with its faults, I have not enjoyed driving and owning a vehicle this much in my lifetime.
