I ordered and bought in Oct 21, car’s been great until now. Started on interstate when accelerating and I lost power but found the gear after a several seconds and RPM rev down. On the way back and ever since it’s missing gears accelerating and thudding when it finds it. Downshifting is also rough and thuddy. Dealer closed until Monday but will be able to replicate immediately so am not concerned with the repair. Am concerned ab the timeline and whether they’ll cover a rental, how hard I’ll have to push to be treated fairly etc. Anyone had a similar experience with the trans or needed to get serious warranty work re a loaner/rental?

Did you try changing drive modes? I had the same thing happen on my band new 22. Changing modes seemed to "reprogram" the shift points and I haven't had the problem since.

I know someone with a Kia Sorento and Kia replaced their transmission.
Thanks. If this fixes this serious of a problem I’ll be surprised and let the dealer determine that so it’s on record.

I had a video of it slipping and slamming into gear. Dealer has it on record. That was taken before I ran it in Sport mode for a bit and then back to comfort. Hasn't had an issue in 3K miles.......

Dealer said likely will be replacing transmission, just waiting on kia corporate to review. If no loaner they said they’ll get me a rental. Will report in again after it’s final. If I were you I’d push for a new one, the symptoms I experienced presented a safety hazard, whether “fixed” by twisting a
knob or not.
Dealer said Kia corporate finally approved the warranty repair and rental on 12/14 end of day, so essentially 12/15 as that was when I was able to pick up the rental. Initially dropped off 12/4, and dealer inspected deeming trans failed on 12/5. Not a good timeline on a clear cut case but at least was approved and have something to drive now. Parts allegedly could be here next week, we'll see.
