23 SX-P Rearview Mirror Garage Door Homelink Button only work when car is on?

This is my first Kia, have their Rearview Mirror garage door Homelink buttons always ONLY worked when the vehicle is powered on? or is that a 2023 model year thing? Our Mazda and my previous Toyota Highlander allows the Homelink buttons to work if the vehicle is powered off...it just kinda sucks in the winter time to have to turn the car on with the garage door closed before I can hit the button to open it...I'm just trying to quickly open the garage door, get the Kia out and quickly close the door to limit how much exhaust gets in and also retain the heat inside.

Just turn the car on without starting it - that will get you want you want. Then start the car after the door is open. Don't you just have a garage door opener button in your garage?
