$35 refund! Woo hoo!

Ok, it's not a huge amount of money, but I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when a check from the dealer (in Plano) arrived in the amount of $35.
I called the dealership to inquire why I got a check and it turnrs out they had determined they over changed me for the TTL when I bought the car.

I had the Veteran discount so I paid $400 under MSRP.

Pretty standard, as they have to estimate that amount.

You paid MSRP less a $400 rebate from Kia(not the dealership, they didn’t give you a discount). Thats not the same as paying less than MSRP.

If the dealership charged a $400 market adjustment and then Kia gave you a $400 rebate, you would have been charged more than MSRP.

I was luckier - after 6 months dealer sent me a check for $500. Deposit money is not applied to the sale of the car so they still had my deposit money. I would have never known... glad they were honest about it.

You paid MSRP less a $400 rebate from Kia(not the dealership, they didn’t give you a discount). Thats not the same as paying less than MSRP.

If the dealership charged a $400 market adjustment and then Kia gave you a $400 rebate, you would have been charged more than MSRP.

Ok. The dealer sold me the car at MSRP with no dealer markups and Kia then gave me a $400 discount. Either way, I was happy.

I had put $1000 down but that was applied to the bottom line.

Don't want to steal you joy at what you consider luck; but not noticing the absence of your deposit money on your bill of sale is less than fortunate. I left wondering what else did they slide past you? But it you're set at a level where $500 is a rounding error, then I can understand why it wasn't missed.
