• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I got to thinking, how are installers dealing with installation of 3M Paint Protection film on the hood around the lettering of the Telluride?

Remove the lettering and apply 3M, then re-install letters? I can’t see a better way to do it. Any ideas?

Mine is supposed to apply film and cut out each letter.

Rip off the lettering toss them into the garbage? Most professionals will either debadge it completely, or place the film over the lettering. Expect the up charge for the later, it doubles the time.

I personally like the hood lettering so removing them and throwing them in the garbage isn’t an option

I understand I personally hate them. Most installers will not cut the film around, but place the film over for hand install. A kit install is usually precut to fit over the lettering. Professional places will have a cutter in the building but charge extra for a custom cut. I don't know one installer that will place the badge over the film.

I installed clear bra by a professional. She said that the template for Telluride comes with the cut outs for the letters. There is a small gap between the letters and the clear bar but it's almost invisible when not looking too closely. She mentioned that another option was to remove letters and reinstall them but then adhesive goes on top of the clear bra and would need to be removed and reinstalled if ever removing the bra later on.
I'm happy with the look of cut outs around the letter. They have a machine that precuts all the film based on the car model and they didn't charge me extra for the lettering.

The installer I've talked to prefers to de-badge the hood, apply the PPF and re-apply the badging. Can anyone confirm with certainty, exactly how the letters are attached to the hood as well as the lift gate?

Has anyone considered blacking out the Telluride letters on the hood. I'm working with a PPF installer who suggested this and I love the idea. I want the hood and lift gate done but am trying to confirm exactly how they are attached.
