• THIS SECTION IS ONLY FOR DISCUSSIONS RELATING TO BUYING A TELLURIDE. PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT SECTION FOR POSTING MESSAGES ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN BUYING A TELLURIDE. THANK YOU!

  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I've done all my research and the Telluride is the overall right fit for me needs. Dealer wants $9k markup which brings the car very close to the BMW X5 (which would be my first choice car if money wasn't a factor). Given all the dealership stories here, why can't we just go on Kia.com, order the car we want, pay online and take delivery in a few months when it's ready (Tesla model)? That would avoid bad experiences and overall sell more cars.

Because we like bloated, redundant and useless processes in this country. It would likely require a heavy investment from the manufactures, as well as increased responsibility on their end that they do not want.

Franchise laws.

Genesis actually does that in Canada and Australia (but without a large network of places to see the models in various color combos one may be interested in, in addition to taking a test drive), has limited sales.

Only Tesla, presently, seems to be able get away from the traditional sales distribution model, but the pandemic may be (slowly) changing things.

I can’t agree more. When you start to price the Telly to levels of the premium brands (BMWs, Aviators), you lose me big time. While the Telluride is truly a sweet SUV, it does not rise to the premium brands. It’s competition remains the Pilot, Explorer, Highlander, Subaru class. And does very well against those vehicles. Dealers should not be allowed to price gouge and should be penalized from KIA for doing so.
