If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I realize this is the definition of first world problems here but I need some advice on how to handle this. I'm about 95% sure the order I placed is coming in on 9/2 and per the sticker on failcat it has a cargo tray and cargo net that I didn't order. It does not, however, have the crossbars that I did order. Will this impact me being able to take delivery on it? My initial thought is that I'll keep the cargo tray, ask that the $50 for the net be deducted from the cross bar price and have the bars installed free when they arrive. Is that a reasonable path to take, or am I being unfair with that? Anyone have any experience with a situation like this?

Thanks

The first thing that you need to do is verify with your dealer that it is actually your order. Until that is verified, why worry?

I mean, you're not wrong, and I'm 100% overthinking it. I just wanted to have a plan in place when I get to the dealer so that there's no bs back and forth. At the end of the day it won't stop me from buying the car, just an annoyance.

I just curious how you can say ".....it won't stop me from buying the car...." if you can't even verify that it is actually your order? You've asked for the tracking and were told that there is no name on the order. Normally, an order has a name attached. Did the dealer actually verify that it is your order?

Just talked about it with my wife and that was her exact response haha. You're right it very well may not be my order, and no he didn't verify. He "didn't have the VIN in front of him" when we spoke but did recall that my order recently was assigned a VIN. I trust that answer and I trust the dealership so I'm gonna have some friday evening beers and relax until it's time to pick it up!

Also, all of these accessories are easily added or removed after delivery. It's not like you got a wrong interior color or trim level... Cross bars won't cost you any more to buy after delivery and are a breeze to install. The worst scenario, you're out a couple hundred and have quite useful cargo cover and net.

Perfect. A proactive dealer should give you the VIN as soon as they get it. They have it before it shows up in failcat. It's too bad dealers just "phone it in" when it comes to the Telly. And, as a follow up, the factory is limiting the accessory count that they will install. So when you get your VIN, don't be surprised if something is missing. It will be dealer installed.

Ahh, that last part is really good to know. And yea I agree, I never expected the range of dealer service to be so vast when I started this process. Glad I went with a high volume dealer. Was quoted 45-180 days, now looks like it'll end up being about 35 or so. After seeing others experiences I feel fortunate.
