• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... After market hitch

I would agree that you DO NOT need the trim piece for any other hitch other than the KIA OE. The minor cutting of the trim panel is all that is needed.
For me it's not a question of needing it. I know I can trim the bumper but I prefer the finished look of the bumper plate so wanted to know if it will work with the Curt hitch. I don't really want the hitch stickling out of a cut bumper.

It's also a leased vehicle. So if I want to return it back to stock, I can easily pull the hitch off and slap the original cover back on.

As 202Telly said, the drawtite will clear the bumper without cutting, the Curt will not. So if you go with the Curt you will need to buy the tow hitch bumper cover if you don't want to cut out a piece. The picture below is a Curt hitch with the hitch bumper cover. I reached out to etrailer about the drawtite to confirm clearance and they said no cutting is required.

Hope that helps
Exactly what I needed. Thanks.

The only thing I would suggest is to get a couple of black rubber grommets (plugs) to put in the holes on either side of the bumper plate where the receiver comes out to finish it off.

Granted, but the plastic housing where the OE connection would go on the KIA hitch is now sitting vacant and looks worse in my opinion. I would just get the aftermarket hitch that doesn't require and alterations, Draw tight?

I plan to put the Curt 7/4 way connector there
