• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... After market running board install problem

Have there been reports of people experiencing a rattle from the under body with the panels trimmed?
I personally haven’t and I’ve had mine on for a good 7 months of so. 👍

Thank you. I know that I trimmed around the bolts in the front so there was a little bit of flap. But I added a bolt to keep that piece secure.

I got an odd rattle coming from under the car by the engine firewall / under the footboard outside and I thought that possibly that plastic piece is rattling but it's pretty well secured.

Same here. Installed lo g time ago and still no rattle noises at all

Fyi I completely removed mine from the car. No issues yet. I still have them but I don't really see a need to put them back tbh. Most cars don't even have these panels. To me they are just another tray to collect dirt. When I took mine off there was a lot of dirt and dried mud at the bottom sitting inside the panel.

Hmmmm mud flaps....

Lamduhh,

I am following up to see if you ran into any issues leaving the panels off long-term. I just installed my running boards yesterday and I did not see a reason to put the covers back on either. Will you let me know?

Thanks,
Glenn

Are there any black running boards available that do not require cutting/trimming or are these the only option right now?

Yes it’s the bottom piece that feels like texture. These is like 10 or 12 screws in total. 3 out of those screw are plastic screw nuts. Here is picture of the cover and count of me he screws.
How do you get the plastic screw nuts out? I keep turning counter and they don't come out.

They should come off very easily. How many of them not coming off?

They came off easier after you remove the primaries. Thanks. I'm having issue with the rear bracket. I have nothing to hold up the bracket as I'm trying to tighten the 10mm nut.

I had the same problem with the rear passenger bracket. The short part of the "L" shaped bolt seems to have nothing to catch to brace it against. I ended up getting it 95% of the way there using a pair of needlenose pliers with a 90 degree bend, and getting enough downward pressure with those to tighten the nut.

i ended up putting the 6mm nut back into the original hole, and then screwing in the 10mm. after that I removed the 6mm and put it back on after i put the panel back.
