If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

Wondering the same thing. Can I purchase an extended warranty if I picked up my car in early July?
Should be able to if not over 5k miles

I've had mine for 2 weeks (EX, moss green AWD). I'm interested...

I picked up my car yesterday and with Jason's help I was able to get a good deal at my dealership. The finance woman at my dealership was so sure that electronics were covered for 5yr/60k that she was shocked when I educated her (and she looked it up) that its really only 3yr/36k. I ended up buying a package that cost about $2300 (split over 48 months), that extended my electronics to 8yr/100k, included gap coverage (because my insurance does not have this option) and tire/rim coverage.

Really struggling with the decision of extended warranty or not. I've never purchased one in my 40ish years of car buying, but as others have pointed out, a whole lot of new electronics in the Telluride. When you read reviews of the companies, they all seem horrible. Then when you consider the average cost of one of the repairs you wonder how these companies can make any money. Reading the reviews tell you that they make money by denying claims. Does anyone have a positive coverage story?

no, they make money because the majority of owners will not have any failures they need to cover. You are just gambling if it will be you or not that has that failure by not purchasing it. Chances are, you will not need it.

Kinda like car insurance. Hopefully you never need it, but if you do you are covered. Only difference here is that insurance is required whereas the extended warranty is optional.

Jason, any updates on progress?

I certainly get the concept, but when you read online reviews they are all terrible when it comes to claims. Be aware when you read some of the comments that are positive, they seem mostly to relate to the buying process.

Anyone here can name a company that honored their contract? Not trying to be overly negative, I really would like to get a warranty, but struggling to find one that has decent reviews for covering actual claims.

My experiences with extended warranties were through GM on Chevrolet vehicles back in the late 1990's and early 2000's. It was branded "GMPP Major Guard". I had no problems other than the warranty company requiring that the transmission be rebuilt rather than replaced. Well a few thousand miles later it was then replaced with a new transmission. All under the extended warranty.

I would hope that the Kia branded extended warranty (assuming the Platinum coverage mentioned in this thread is Kia branded?) would be honored, but that is only speculation at this point.

According to what I have been told, the Mechanical Failure Service Contract issued by Fidelity Warranty is Kia branded. This policy is offered at more than one level of coverage with different deductibles. There are other policies that also offer "Platinum" coverage that are not Kia branded. I was hoping Jason Fox with Kia of Muncie could offer his comments on this matter.

We will not always be the cheapest however we are very competitive in what we have offered. Many of you were quoted over $2k for the same plan. We do have work involved behind the scenes to make all of this come together. Thank you.

Thank you for putting this out there Jason. 2 quick questions. I ordered my telluride from a dealer in Elgin Illinois, would I still be able to purchase the extended platinum warranty through you? Also, it wasn't super clear but this covers the radio/infotainment cluster as well correct?

Once again, thank you for putting this together for us.

Yes. You can still order through us. Electronics are covered. What I don't like about the information provided is that they tell you what is Not covered. That is why I provided the 800 number if anyone needs 100% clarification before signing up.

Perfect. Thank you. I agree on the providing what ISN'T covered. I will be calling or getting in contact with you as soon as I get the VIN for our car. I'm assuming we will need that before we can go forward with it?

Going to be very honest. Wait till you have vehicle in hand. My very 1st shipment we had 3 damaged by transport. The driver banged up all 3 unloading them. One was a Sold order. We gave customer option to buy once fixed or we would re-order. Things happen. Better to wait and play it safe. It would be too much aggravation for all of us to cancel a policy and change vins.
