Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

There’s a lot of useful information on the previous pages of this thread.

Has anyone purchased a warranty directly from Fidelity?

I’m assuming I got taken for a ride with Fidelity’s warranty. (3900)

Anyone in the GTA area buy the dealer offered warranty? If so how much and did you bundle it with anything else? Was thinking of getting the interior/ex for mainly rustproofing for the dumb amounts of salt we drive on every year.

I let myself get talked into the 10yr/100k factory bumper-to-bumper warranty. Not sure how I feel about my decision, but at least it can be cancelled and is transferable.

The drivetrain already has a 10/100K warranty - I assume tech problems would rear its head within the first 6 years, so i always figure what is the chance that something is going to happen that will cost me significantly more than the cost of the warranty, outside what is already covered by the original warranty. I mean if a warranty costs $3900 - that is a no-go for me - I have never spent that much on repairs on a car, and what is likely to incure that degree of cost that is outside the power train? If you shell out that kinda money you are anticipating a repair that is gonna cost 2x that amount, to make the opportunity cost worth it. I just don't see the math working out on that one. On a 7 year old car, if the tech breaks I am inclined to buy the parts and hit up youtube to fix it myself, sell the car, or just live with whatever is broken, or pay up to $3900 (the money I saved not getting a warranty) if that covers the repairs.

You can get a better deal on the YAA site. Your auto advocate on extended warrantee's if you really want one for a good price. They also have a huge following on youtube on negotiating and what you should not be paying for.

YAA's quote was under $1500 for the 10/100,000. I'd look there if you want one, but I don't think I'm getting one for mine.

Bought Fidelity Platinum 10/100K w/ $0 for $1675. I already had 4800 miles on it otherwise they would have done $1600.

Warranty should last me 4-5 years.

Anybody buy the KIA platinum warranty from Muncie? If so, curious how much it costs. I think I’m correct in assuming that everyone appears to be talking about a 3rd party warranty?

I bought the Platinum pkg. from Muncie last year and it cost me $1647. That was quite a bit cheaper than what my dealer wanted.

Thanks for the info. Guess I didn’t get too ripped off, but still may cancel.

We did. $1k and extended everything bumper to bumper for 125k miles or 10yrs. ABS system or navigation would set me back that easily

Hi, from where you get yours for 1200?
Napleton's in Urbana, Illinois. It wasn't the Fidelity warranty that is standard with most Kia dealerships. Napleton's sells one called 'The Mechanic' platinum coverage by Assurant.

Had anyone actually filled a claim using the EW that Lucas sells?

This extended warranty business is always so sketchy. I like YAA, but really wonder how good their advertised warranties really are. The Fidelity warranty through Muncie does not cover "safety restraint systems" which can get fairly expensive in a hurry, if it involves any airbags.

Manufacturers will usually take care of safety restraint issues and they may actually be mandated by law to do so. I once had a seatbelt buckle that needed replacement on a 14 year old Honda and the dealer replaced it at no cost to me.

Kia only covers electronics up to 36k. If you have an sx, you have front and rear parking sensors, 4 exterior cameras, power lift gate, blind spot electronics, maybe HUD and on and on. One of these things failing could cost as much as the warranty coverage.

So unless it is going to fail twice, your better to pay to fix it vs. pay the warranty.

If you need to roll the cost of the warranty into your financing due to cash flow concerns of a large repair, you bought more vehicle than you can afford.

These warranties are such a bad deal - sorry for the rant.
