If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

Got an initial quote from the dealer I am purchasing from for 10yr/150k miles for $1925. Zero deductible if taken to my dealership. I have NOT seen the paperwork yet. Just know it takes everything to the 10yr/150k mark. I do not know if this similar to what Jason has. I will find out more in the coming days as my vehicle is scheduled for delivery on 1/29. I appreciate all of the info here. My Dealer also offered a Oil change, tire rotation and cabin filter changes for 84 months (not mileage dependent). Based on oil change every 7500 miles. Cost about $1100. Anyone else prepay service like this?
what company is underwriting the warranty?

Like I said this is very early on. I haven’t seen the paperwork yet. This was all done over the phone. I will update when I get more info.

Hi I have a question, does the warranty void if will install any aftermaret products in the car or tapping any wire? Any thoughts , thanks in advance

It looks like the provider is United Service Protection Corp in FL, AAGI of Florida, Inc. American Auto Guardian Inc. I am still gathering info. If anyone has heard of them, I would appreciate any feedback.

Big shout-out to @Jason Fox and his team. Locked in an extended warranty today on our SX-P. No one could touch their pricing and Muncie made the process super easy and hassle free. Knowing all the technology and big items are covered to 120k miles takes a large portion of any worry off my shoulders as we tend to keep our vehicles for a long time and drive them a lot.

You are very welcome. We appreciate the business. Thank You!

Buying an extended warranty/service contract at the time of purchasing a new auto is not a good idea.

It is prudent to wait until your manufacturers warranty is about to expire. Then, you can make an educated decision regarding your specific vehicle based upon your experience with it and the incidence of problems people publish on forums like this.

The electronics warranty from KIA is 36/36,000. A lot can happen in that time: You car may be wrecked, you may die, you may grow to hate the vehicle, something newer and nicer might catch your fancy, you might have zero issues with it and decide it is reliable, and the price of parts will fall because they are more readily available both new and used, etc...

It is illogical to pay for something you can not use until the manufacturers original warranty expires.

Thanks for the fun facts.

Where are other warranties available that will be covered by dealer service after the fact? Do you sell extended warranties on vehicles years into their use? I was not under the impression this was possible but I am very intrigued at the chance to do that.

Yeah they do, for a higher cost. I bought one on my Infiniti which I bought used in 2011 - from a different Infiniti dealership than the one I had bought the vehicle from, as they had better pricing. I believe the cost rises as you put more miles on the car, though - I was told when I was pricing mine that if I put another roughly 5,000 miles on it I'd be moving up to a higher purchase price band. So waiting for your manufacturer's warranty to almost expire won't be as cheap as buying it when the car is new. . Of course that could be somewhat offset by the money you save by not buying it years before you actually need it

Guys, this is hogwash. Although the offering price might be higher later, it is always negotiable.

well duh, anything is negotiable, but that's not the point. If you can get an extended warranty for a car with 35,995 miles on it for the same price as one with 25 miles on it, more power to you.

I just happen to read this, but "if you die" , will you really care that you spent the extra cash on an extended warranty? Silly.

Well, I suppose, its silly if you have nobody to think of except yourself.

The point is: unless you turn out to be the one in several hundred purchasers who happens to still have the vehicle when your original factory warranties expire and then happen to actually have a failure that is covered by the service plan while it is in effect - extended service contracts are a waste of money. These contracts are heavily leveraged to make others wealthy off of your fears.

Only 1 in 300 people keep a vehicle beyond 36k miles? in 30 years I've never sold or traded a vehicle before then. In fact, I often put 15-25k a year on cars. 36k is practically new still. I am on my third full roof sunroofs in my truck. Extended warranty paid for both replacements to the tune of $1900 each. I'm fairly comfortable with the statistical probability that something expensive will fail eventually.

I will say that I was tempted to buy an extended warranty. I might still yet. This is my first Kia, and this Telluride is in its first year (even though the parts may be tried and true). It's got a lot of bells and whistles that I don't have experience with. Nonetheless, I doubt that I'll end up buying the extended warranty. The reliability of this Telluride and how the cost of ownership goes will influence whether I buy another Kia in the future.

I remember getting the first Honda Accord with a navigation screen. Sales people talked about the risk of the electronics going bad as this was the first time Honda put one in. My thinking then was basically the same. I assume Honda will have made a competent product and that it would not break. 15+ years later, I still have it and I've had maybe 2 issues with the navigation screen.
