• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My 2020 SX is coming up on 3 yrs old and is paid off. Looking at the KBB value I can supposedly get nearly what I paid for it. This makes me think about trading it in for something like a 2023 Sportage and banking the difference. Has anyone else done something like this or thought about it? Would a dealership even do this?

Dealers are looking for inventory. They'll gladly take your trade or even buy it outright and you can buy wherever you want. Sometimes the non Kia dealers pay more for used Tellys.

I was thinking about trading so that I don't have to pay tax on the new vehicle... I'm assuming that's how it works but maybe not?

Yeah in most states but what's tax on a $30k vehicle in your state? Mine is $1500. If another dealer is willing to pay you $2-3k more than the Kia dealer where you want to trade then it would make sense to sell to them instead.

Definitely worth exploring. And thank you for not calling it a "Telly".

yeah tax in NY would be like $2400 on a 30k car but you are right, need to do the math and figure the best deal

Forget KBB, go on carmax or vroom or cavana to see real world numbers.

Do it....I just sold my leased Telluride to brother-in-law and made much more than the original total contract of the vehicle. Got a good down payment out of it for the new 2022 SX AWD I ordered. Remember the days when your new vehicle depreciated just driving out of the dealership? No reason not to take advantage of this 'unprecedented market :p

LOL! :ROFLMAO: Yes, I actually did give him a discount. $4000 less than Carvana offered me, (only 6,500 mi) and I still made out! Found out Kia won't let you have Carvana, Carmax etc buy out your lease, so I sold it to him and wife....She's so happy!!

My KBB Instant cash offer was nearly 15% higher than those other three. Not for a Telluride and instead for a Toyota Sienna.

I traded my 2020 SX (Canada) after 30 months. Got what I paid 50, plus tax savings and got a 2022 SX prestige nightfall. Lost the delivery fee, but I did get 5:years oil changes and tow package tossed in on previous purchase. They put my tow equipment on new one and transferred remaining oil changes to new car. I was happy.
