Hi All,
I've got less than 400 miles on my 21 SX-P and I've noticed that the auto-sensing wipers aren't working as they probably should. During constant / consistent rain, on the highest (fastest) setting, the wipers will clear once or twice, wait a random number of seconds, then clear again, then wait a TOTALLY LONG, RANDOM time then clear 3 or 4 times in a row, then go back to once every 10 or 20 or whatever seconds. It does this regardless of the speed setting. The windshield view can be completely obscured by rain and the wipers won't come on to clear it - until it's damn well ready to clear it.
Took it to the dealer today and he said that he put a garden hose on the windshield and it worked fine. He also said that a fellow mechanic that had a 2020 that couldn't keep up with constant rain on the auto setting, so he just switched it to manual wipe.
This can't be the way this thing is supposed to operate. I've got a 2017 Prius that does an amazing job of adjusting the wiper speed to accommodate for the level of rain.
They said they'd call the factory engineer folks and get back with me, but I'm not hopeful. I don't think they believe it's not performing as designed.
Thoughts?
