• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Good morning,
My auto top engine shutoff is not working. The instrument shows an yellow A.
I brought it to the Kia Repair Center, but was told I had to leave overnight.
They were going to call Tec at Kia.
Could there be a switch I can check?

George

It's normal for this system to temporarily deactivate itself sometimes, e.g., when the weather is very hot or very cold, and the climate control system in the car is making heavy demands for power. Does your automatic stop-start NEVER work? If so, you may have a weak battery. Once the battery starts to fade, this system can fail because it requires a lot of juice.

It does get a little warm in Louisiana. I'll have the dealership check it out.

Thank you for your quick response

Several reasons why the ISG operating conditions are not met, and would prevent it from turning off the engine.

Common ones are engine coolant temp, temperature outside, climate control temp not reached.

Even when the ISG does turn off your engine, when it senses the battery charge is getting too low or the cabin temp is getting to far from the climate control set point, it will need to start the engine again prematurely.

The threshold for battery charge is set too high for ISG to function. Unless I drive for hours on the highway everyday, the battery hardly ever has enough juice to power ISG. Only when I charge the battery to full with a charger will it restore ISG function for a day or two.
