If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi group,

The lease on our minivan is up in December (thank god!) We would like a Telluride or a Palisade. We have 2 must haves, a bench seat and AWD.

From experience, what do you guys think are chances are of finding one like that in December? Is the bench seat and AWD a rare combo? Any recommendations for a particular dealer in the greater Los Angeles area?

Thank You,
Emil

As of right now, finding any Telluride or Palisade available for immediate purchase without a “market adjustment” is almost impossible. If you do find one, chances are it won’t be in a configuration you like and the dealership will be asking thousands over MSRP. This could change by December, but not likely.

Your best would be to order a Telluride or Palisade with the exact specs you want from a dealership that doesn’t charge over MSRP. You’ll likely have to travel out of state to get it, but you’d be saving thousands. I-25 Kia in Colorado is well regarded ‘round these parts.

The majority of factory orders seem to take 3-6 months. If the vehicle you order arrives before your lease is up you may be able to trade your van in rather than return it to the leasing company (depending on your residual value).

As far as getting a bench seat with AWD, you can get either an LX or an EX (without the Premium package). The S, EX w/ Premium, and SX all come with 2nd row captains chairs.

The forum search tool can provide you with multiple threads discussing these questions. These questions have been discussed ad nauseum and there is even a California specific thread.

As you are going to need an LX or base EX to get bench seats, you will have an easier time finding availability compared to the high demand SX trim.

If you are open to color, options, and either paying a mark up or traveling, then you can probably find some dealer with inventory.

Forget Southern California unless you want to pay a mark up or to take the least desirable car at the end of a sales quota period. There's a reason many on this site are waiting for months to get cars from out of state.
