• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... List your bad service department experiences. I've come across good dealerships that have bad service departments

My car is due for the 7500 mile service so I will let you know. Frankly, I am not expecting much. I am coming out of a BMW and my wife's car is an Audi. The customer service part of these dealerships is really great and you are paying for that with your car purchase. Pull up into the service department, drop off the keys with an advisor, drive away with a loaner if you made the arrangements. That part is good. The downside is that the actual people that are touching your car is a toss up. I have had plastic grill parts pried off, wheels scratched, etc. Just because its a BMW doesn't mean that have great help. The Kia dealership I am taking it to looks like the place I use to go 20 years ago as far as the service. I will just drop it off and pick it up when its done since its close and I have rides. I absolutely refuse to wait for vehicles at dealerships. Drop off times and schedules don't mean anything to these places. I also looked at the 7500 mile service. I bought the car used with 7000 miles on it and the dealership did the oil change and filter. Beyond that, this service doesn't really do anything else other than inspect, tire rotation (I do this all the time anyway with my snow tire install) How much is this?

Brought mine in for first service close to 4k miles because it had been a year since I bought it. In addition to the oil change they wanted to do the TSB for headlight aim and trailer hitch wiring. Told me it would take 2 hours.

After two hours they told me they didn’t end up doing the trailer hitch wiring service because they didn’t have the harness part and needed to order it. I asked then why did it still take two hours to do a simple oil change and aim my headlamps? **crickets** There were only two other people waiting for their car to be serviced, and I booked my appointment in advance.

Also, when I got home I checked to see if they had replaced my intake air filter and cabin air filter, which are supposed to be changed at the annual service visits. There were still leaves and dirt in them and they had not been changed at all. When I called to request they just mail me the filters to change myself, they argued the dealerahip only swaps them out when the “look dirty enough” and mine were considered too clean to change. Sounds like a half assed excuse to cover up for sloppy service/inspection. I even removed the glove box securing pin halfway (to gain access to the cabin filter) to reduce the chances a careless tech would yank it out and damage it. When I checked, the pin was exactly where I left it, so nobody looked at it for sure.

I had pretty low expectations going in for service at a KIA dealership, so I guess I wasn’t too surprised.

Not really a dealership problem, but my car has been there since Dec 7 waiting on power steering assembly which the ETA is Jan 27. Right before it broke I had it ceramic coated so it should have been curing and not outside in harsh Canada winter. Kia Canada dragged their feet so I arranged my own tow back home while they wait for the part.

basically Kia Canada service sucks. Now will see what compensation they offer for me not having my car for 2 months when it only had 1000km.

used to buy Kia all the time. This will be my last one.
