  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Buying without driving

I found that watching 50+ review videos from people who review cars for a living gave me exactly what I needed to know about the Telluride before I even saw one in person.

If you want to know if the Telly can accelerate hard and do insane 0-60, you should already know this is not the car for you. If you are looking for a sport SUV that can tackle corners of a windy back road, this is not the car for you. If you want a three row family/cargo hauler with amazing tech and luxury features at a great price, you don’t need a drive a 5 mile loop to figure this out.

Before I ordered one I sat in a S trim and SX trim and got a feel for the car and saw some of the tech features in person. I was offered a test drive, for the S but didn’t bother with it.

Got my SX and was never disappointed with the drive and handling because I knew exactly what to expect already.

I suppose if you are a non-average body type or have joint/muscle pain sitting in certain seats, this could be more of a reason to test drive to make sure it isn’t painful or uncomfortable to drive the car.

Another option if you can’t find a dealer nearby with inventory is to check used car lots. Or schedule a test drive with Carvana or Vroom, where they bring the car to your house. No commitment to buy after the test drive.

Nah. In not looking for the telluride to be fast. The fast was already done when I was a teen so I’m good with that.

There is a question that popped up in my mind. I have a trade-in so how does that work when all you are doing is ordering the telluride and not driving away in it? Do I need to have my wife drive another vehicle or will they do the trade in after the telluride gets there?

Your trade-in is just a form of payment. If you can give the car up now, you can sell it to Carvana while the value is high. Otherwise, you can sell it to Carvana closer to your delivery date or use it at trade-in for whatever the market value is then.

You'll do the trade-in when the Telluride gets there. Ordering isn't actually anything concrete. You do not do paperwork until the car gets to the dealer, or at least is on the way to the dealer. Consequently, it is important that you work with a reputable dealer and are clear on pricing because you do not want to wait 6 months just to find out the terms of sale are materially different from what you expected.

The value of your trade in, including when that value is set, is negotiable. I've done it both ways. I've waited until the new vehicle to arrive and then agreed on the trade in value. But I've also been able to get the dealer to commit to a trade in price at ordering time. Of course, if you have an accident while waiting for the new vehicle, all bets are off. But in general it is possible to get it all determined in advance if that's what you want.

Well I pre-ordered my black on black SX nightfall prestige AWD today! Now comes the waiting game...

If you are patient and willing to do a little work, you owe it to at least get an offer from Carvana or Carmax for your trade. They are paying top dollar and you can use this as a negotiating price with the dealer who I can guarantee will not be at that price, at least initially. Obviously it will be less painful to do everything at the dealer if the numbers work, including the tax implication on trades. Here in PA you pay taxes on the difference in the vehicle, less trade.
