• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2020 SX Prestige, recently the Battery drain error is coming on when I start the vehicle. Oddly I was looking at the interior fuse junction box near OBD2 port (left side of steering wheel) and I noticed something that I doo not remember seeing before. There is an odd jump wire off of the junction box wiring harness. The wire in question is orange/white and is a single wire that is routed down the side of the driver kick panel with a plug connector. Unless I pull apart the kick panel I can't trace it much further.

I have only had the vehicle at the dealership and recently had two safety campaigns completef (tow package and front warning). The last time at dealership was oil change only and after ha visit I started noticing the battery drain message.

I have looked at other images and not one has this jump wire off of it. Any thoughts on what it could be? Is it factory?

This is an image from online (note no jumper on bottom right wires)

Do you have the accessory under dash interior lights? Regardless, I would chase that wire to see where it goes as whatever it is for was not from the factory…

That is Kia's fix for the tow hitch. That way it doesn't catch fire, allegedly. I have the same wire. Only thing is, afterwards, I started experiencing a parasitic draw. It took 6 months of having to jump start my car every day and fighting with the dealership to get it fixed. Once it was at the dealership, it took them a month and had to bring in the engineers for the Telluride to figure out it was the IBU assembly. The fuse panel you mentioned goes to that IBU, and from there pig tails plug into it from the infotainment system and the LDC assembly. Good luck.

Isn’t this the “no illuminating tail light when using acc” fix? I don’t think it is the fire fix. Those jokers do t know how to fix that…

Well, I might think that could be a possibility. But, I took my car in on 11/23/22 for the trailer hitch recall and that was their "temporary fix." And so not only did I need a jump start that day so I could leave, I subsequently had to jump start my car every day since up until it got fixed about 2 weeks ago. So I spent the last 6 months or so fighting tooth and nail with these guys over all this nonsense. I had to get the NHTSB, California BAR and the BBB (the Better Business Bureau is totally useless) inolved. And that was after I caught them in more than a few lies. I ended up making a scene because, call me weird, but I don't appreciate being lied to straight to my face. I tend to respond poorly. So I have become very, very familiar with this issue. I had to go as far as taking it to another shop just to prove that not only was there a parasitic draw, but where it was coming from. I had to solve the problem for them and it still took them a month to fix it. Sometime in the next 30 days or so, I'm going to pick another fight with them over my broke ass sunroof. They told me that was impossible to get it closed. I got it closed in about 15 minutes. I have that to look forward to. Isn’t that neat!? They might be jokers but their jokes ain't funny. Those morons couldn't find their own ass with 2 hands, a dog and a road map.
