• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... We saw an EX today in Sangria/grey leather. That's not available in the SX. Black Copper isn't available with grey leather. Everlasting Silver is only available with black interior, and so on.

Why?

All the available combinations are on the website. Black Copper is an SX only color. Sangria is an S and EX color. Just how they decided to do it.

Gravity Gray can be had with a gray interior, Ebony Black with a gray interior. Black Copper with Black or Dune. Just the designers choices.

In any product combo you need to balance market research with price points.

Market survey tells you what combos people want at what price point, you simply have to make those products at those price points. You as a individual will not be happy with what they decide. I wanted a dark blue one, not going to happen, but I want it.

Paint prices can change dramatically by color. You may not care, but a misjudgment of 1 dollar in paint can cost thousands of dollars to bottom line. With every color combo you are looking at can cost thousands of dollars. Everyone that is not sold, will effect the bottom line. So they do market testing to figure out combos.

I thought it was crazy for a non metallic black to be ~$400 extra. Also odd that I can have a brown or tan interior with a black headliner but not a black interior with a black headliner.

The KIA God's make the decisions. Take it and like it they say.

I love my car! Nearly 400 miles on it in a week. I just thought some of those things were odd. Never had to pay extra for black haha.

I understand that, but in that case, it's illogical to not offer a particular color on a higher end mode (like the SX) with more margin.

I should also note that the thinly veiled rant is a bit less about the exterior color than it is the limits on interior colors. There's no cost differential on one interior color vs. another, yet they still limit how they can be combined. Grey not being available with Everlasting Silver is, again, a good example here.

That is too much black. This is why they did it. Although that espresso trim with the brown everywhere is really an outlier.

And also hideous. They need to drop that brown dash and steering wheel, like yesterday.

I can’t explain the logic but it’s par for the course from what I’ve seen from Hyundai. The color combos have never made sense to me.

Both of our Grand Cherokees have had black headliners and it looks wonderful. It was actually one of the negatives of the black interior on the Telluride. Sure it makes it feel more spacious, but it is a large vehicle, it doesn’t need help in that category.

Well you were due for a change then
