Canadian 2021 Telluride

I am interested in finding out more. According to the APA price report, the difference between MRSP and Invoice is $3118. Did you do a trade-in at the same time? Or order a bunch or accessories or extended warranty? I am planning to make a deal this week, so this info would be really helpful. I am nowhere near Orangeville, unfortunately, in the Ottawa area.
No trade in. Cash purchase.Get a quote from Julie at orangeville just to compare first and take that to your dealer. Added floor mats and that was it. Picking up this week.

Will do, thanks! Will update the group with my outcome.

Also if you are planning on getting any accessories, usually tell them you want 10% off (at least). Orangeville did that no problem.

Just double checked and I'm actually $3650 below msrp. I just sent a deposit and never signed anything.
If you never signed anything, what documentation do you have of the sale? Couldn’t they just back out or add fees in? I guess this goes to the issue of inflated “invoice” pricing and whether the true dealer profit is hidden in other payments the manufacturers make to the dealers which we can’t find out about.

Just relied on a good ol' covid handshake. I recieved the invoice with vin today. They stuck to their word. We settled on a final price and they gave me an itemized bill. They kept the admin and freight but subtracted from msrp so the total is the same. They must get more cash in their pocket that way. Glad they didnt try and pull a fast one. Hopefully all goes well when I pickup on first inspection.

Great news. Julie will be giving me a quote tomorrow. I got a pretty good deal from one of the local shops so we will see....

Haggling with CarCostCanada.com can get you some pretty interesting deals shopping around. You can get close or equal to dealer cost doing so which might translate to a discount of 3-4k$ on (MSRP+Freight). Btw dealers are always making profit even at cost ...

Looking to see if any fellow Telluride owners in Calgary or surrounding area would be interested in getting in on a group buy from the USA for the Shark Racing - Proximity Smart Door Lock Module

Telluride owners in Calgary that I know of besides myself are @arvindhraman @T_ride @Western @puma cat

Basically it's an addon that is a pretty simple install (4 wires under dash) that senses when you are close to the vehicle with your key fob and automatically unlocks the doors for you.

Video demo:

NOTE: this will ONLY unlock on SX models from my understanding. Basically if your mirrors go in and out when locking/unlocking, this will work. If your mirrors do not go in and out, it will only lock.

The cost to order direct is $100 US plus $25 shipping (to US), but the group on Facebook has secured some group pricing:

10+ - US$87
20+ - US$80
30+ - US$72

Shipping is probably still $20/$25 to Canada from the group buy organizer, but obviously the more that order, the less for the shipping.

I was thinking of organizing a sub group for us in Calgary, and we can all get them shipping to one location, and then mailed out/or meet up.

The organizer @rwhite4573 and @BRNXBMR are on these forums, and the thread is here:

The install instructions are here:

Video is in the first post (or now above)

I have asked for a couple of days to see if we can get 3 or 4 interested to cut down severely on the shipping costs to Calgary.

Send me a PM if interested, maybe we could get a list of Calgary owners in case something else like this comes up as well.

For others in the rest of Canada that might be interested, please feel free to also make a sub group if you like, the more that buy from the main group (including Canada) the cheaper it gets.

Thanks all.

I am interested. Anybody from the Greater Montreal Region ?

I have a question about this. It looks interesting, not sure it bothers me so much to push the button on the remote to unlock the doors, but anyway. I am waiting for delivery of my SX to Ottawa.

In my current Honda Odyssey, If I lock the doors with the key fob after leaving the car, and there is still someone inside the car, if they try to unlock the car from the inside, the car thinks someone is trying to break in and it sets of the horns and lights alarm and won’t let the locks unlock. So it seems to me that this would be more likely to happen if I leave the family in the car to get something from the gas station store or Tim’s or whatever. Is this the same behavior that happens with the Telly?

And would the rear occupancy alarm also go off in this situation?

Last call on this Proximity Module.

@hamride , you could just join like I am and have them ship directly to you($20/$25), or we could get them shipped to me, and I can ship out to to you. (half the $20/25), and I can look at possibly getting it shipped free to you or I will cover half or something. ($5 from Calgary to Montreal?)

Let me know.

Looks like they need 1 or 2 more to make this happen so there is 10+

Looking at $30 US saving is we join them.

@GreekWiz Where to join ? I am fine with either ways

Ordered on March 25, thought I would share my deal for other Canadians:
2021 SX Gravity Grey/Black
APA shows invoice price including paint charge, Ontario tire fee, OMVIC, Freight/PDI and Air tax totals $50,592
Andre at Turpin Kia in Carleton Place gave me just under $300 over this: $50,879, so MSRP less $2591
Including tax, out the door price: $57,493.27

I emailed several dealerships in the Ottawa area, and also emailed Julie at Orangeville Kia. Julie came in $1000 over Andre, another local dealer was close a bit less and the rest offered over MSRP or minimal discounts.

I also went with Andre because he was very helpful during our decision process when I called looking to see if they had a certain color in stock to look at.

I know the dealers are making money elsewhere but I thought this was a fair price given what we are seeing. His estimate ETA was 5-9 weeks, may be optimistic but I am not in dire need.

As far as accessories, the discount varies depending on each one. No discount on Premium Cargo Liner $274.19 (though other shops were giving a slight discount of $30), but other accessories have some more room in them, like the crossbars.

Interestingly, he did not recommend the sidesteps as he has found some issues with clips breaking and them not being too solid. I wasn’t planning on these but was asking for a family member who may order one soon.

So my local dealership in ottawa had a telluride finally in the show room. A white nightsky. Sales guy was nice but he tried to tell me kia told the dealerships not to give more then 500 off msrp. And in my head I'm thinking sure sure, I've been on the forums and Canadian buyers are getting good deals. Well now I know i won't be reaching out to him, when my time comes to buy.

The deals are usually (there are exceptions) for the lower trims, the higher trims will sell quickly regardless if you buy it. $500 is not great, but not terrible either for a a Nightsky. I know some have gotten deals better then that on SX (non limited), but it's also location based, moth of the year, their total sales for the month, etc. Lot's of factors. A high volume dealer has more leeway than one that only just got a single unit in and is in a small town IMO.

Example above is Locantino who never got a discount off the "actual" vehicle, but somehow got the delivery charge taken off (good on him, I never see that happen)... but in the end the vehicle was still sold at MSRP, the dealer took the loss on the shipping to show a sale on the books. Also not a SX-L or Nightsky.

Work with them to get discounts on dealer admin fees, accessories, etc. Don't lose out on the vehicle you want for $500 or so would be my advice. But I mean it's up to you.

I factory ordered my Black Copper Nightsky before the 2021's came out (August) and only got just slightly less than $1000 off MSRP, but I got hefty discounts on tow package and mats as well and never paid for the bullshit "dealer package" crap that other dealers refuse to budge on.

Considering it was a factory order, I was happy to get anything off MSRP to be truthful, but that was the vehicle I wanted.

I don’t look at it that way, but I guess the bottom line is the same. I never expected to get the PDI/Freight or any of the mandatory taxes discounted. With that added on to the APA Invoice price I paid $300 above that. It happens that that is about $300 less than MSRP all in plus tax but whatever. Given that there are now hidden profits outside what they collect over invoice, I am sure they made more than $300. But squeezing another few hundred out of the deal was not worth my time and I thought I was being treated very respectfully. After watching lots of those “How to buy a car” videos and hearing all the nightmare stories about the games played, I was happy to get the deal I did over email and with a minimum of game playing.

Bottom line, for your bottom line, you are right, but looking at the paperwork you posted, they still sold it for MSRP, was all I am saying.

We have no idea why dealers do what they do, but although slim, maybe someone ordered it, paid a deposit, cancelled it, lost their deposit, and you are the benefactor. We have no idea, but anything is possible.

I have seen a ton of discounts given, but delivery charge and especially A/C fee is very rare to see.

That said, maybe they just wrote up the invoice that way for other reasons, like bottom line sales numbers for the dealer (as opposed to sale plus taxes).

Who knows.

Here is my invoice for comparison. Hope it may help some thinking of buying.I feel I got a pretty good deal. MSRP is $57979 For limited nightfall. We picked ours up last week. Overall very happy with it so far! Sales were great and no pressure to deal with and we had it in just under 4 weeks from order.

$3169 under msrp if my math is correct. $63k out the door is what I negotiated before adding the $448 in extras.
