Hello!
Hopefully you guys can help me out, we recently purchased a 2021 telluride Sx limited and paid extra to have the dealership instal the tow hitch receiver and 7 pin wiring set up. Upon arrival at the dealership and inspection I noted that it looks nothing like the pictures online. This mount is way below the bumper and only has 13 inches from the ground to the top of the receiver. Wondering if our dealership gave us aftermarket and not OEM. Could a Canadian owner please let me know if this is what yours looks like??

I don’t have one but that definitely looks aftermarket. Did they charge you full oem cost for the hitch. That hitch doesn’t look like it sits right and it should be higher up in the plastic part that removes for the hitch install. I’d definitely question them on that.

I would not be happy with that. That definitely doesn't look OEM.

i don't think I have seen a mount like that for the electrical connection. Not OE. It depends how picky you are with the appearance of your car and what you paid for it. Was it clearly noted that you were getting a KIA brand part and accessories? If not, you don't have much to stand on other than what you thought you were getting. I think if you can find a more elegant way to mount the connector bracket, that's half the battle.

I got mine installed in Canada, opted to skip the wiring harness, just wanted a place for my hitch bike rack. Looks way different than yours.

Do you know where you had yours installed and when? Could you quote the part number? I’m not impressed with mine at all if yours was done locally.

They should have removed the lower bumper panel and installed that 3-4 inches higher. They then shoukd have installed a new surround that fills in the opening making it look OEM

we were expecting, especially since all the images show what you’ve described, and then we arrive to find this, it’s practically touching the ground and looks horrific, the dealership parts manager insists it the oem package and the description you gave doesn’t exist...

Yours certainly doesn't look like mine.

Here's what a USA Kia hitch looks like

Mine was done at South Trail Kia in Calgary when I picked it up in January. Sorry, no part number on my bill of sale.

The hitch is mounted where is belongs for this aftermarket version. Only the OE KIA hitch mounts high enough that it requires a trim panel replacement.

Even if I was willing to live with the aftermarket hitch, there's no way I'd personally leave that 7-pin connector mounted like that. It's too likely to get ripped off by some thing if you should ever find yourself off road in any way.

Some people don't mind the Curt 58000 bracket: How To: Full Tow Hitch Install

It might just be a matter of preference. But if you plan to use a Curt Echo with aftermarket hitch, you definitely need a bracket like this to hold the brake controller level.

It would bother me if I had the shiny black NightSky/NightFall bumper and then the tow hitch bumper cover would be a flat plastic black that doesn't match.

This is an aftermarket hitch. They probably sold you that because they couldn't get the OEM hitch as they are on and off backorder status. 7 pin is aftermarket as well. Kia Canada is still in the process of releasing the 7 pin but the 4 pin is available.

I just installed the Curt 13420 hitch today. Installation was smooth, and I cut the bumper cover. Looks good.

Does the OEM Kia hitch sit at the same height as the Curt 13420?
If you get the Kia hitch cover with the holes for the hitch and trailer plug, can anyone confirm that fits with the Curt 13420?
Thanks!
