• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Really wanted to buy a Telluride SX with Prestige package (with Grey Nappa) but decided I can not wait until August if I order now.

Going to get used 2019 BMW X3 for $38k.

Congrats to those that jumped on the early Telly SX Prestige models!

Good luck. The X3 is a completely different SUV compared to the Telluride. As long as you are happy with it.

Yea, 5 seater, and 4400 pounds towing and no AA.These shouldn't be two models you are cross shopping. You might want to check out the Sorento then. 3rd row seats in a pinch and a lot more room than the X3

There are several SX Prestige for sale in the Minneapolis area. For others who don’t want to wait, I’d think you could ship cross country for $1000. May be worth it.

Congrats. The X3 is an awesome suv. I would consider as well. I don't need 3 rows of seats and only occasionally need 5 seats. The Sorento has very dated/ugly interior and ho-hum exterior.

I personally don't like the direction of BMW is going with a big front grill which makes un-proportional to the body and headlight.

I am a tech nerd so the infotainment / Interior and tech features are the main selling point for me on any SUV. iDrive looks awesome, and actually think Telluride infotainment has similiar screen as BMW.

Telluride probably has more cool tech right now - but do not want to wait 3-4 months for Telluride

You should check out the 2020 Mercedes GLE....awesome interior and tech.

If you truly want the Telluride you should get it, even if you have to wait a little longer. If it is a matter of not currently having a vehicle, consider going to the Kia dealer and asking about purchasing a previously owned vehicle on the lot with the understanding that if you do buy the Telluride you order when it comes in you will get full credit for the original purchase price. You may be surprised since it really is a win/win for the dealer since he is not really losing any serious depreciation. You will still be responsible for the taxes so you may not want to get the most expensive used car on the lot but at least you have a car for now and the knowledge of knowing you have a Telluride in the pipeline.

If you do stay with the BMW as a current owner of a German Engineered car, I would recommend saving the monthly difference you are saving on payments between $38,000 BMW and $46,000 Kia because you will need it for required maintenance on your BMW. I have paid less on general maintenance on the two Kia Optimas, Cadenza and Sorento over the past 8 years then on one annual service call on my European Beauty.

I wish you a long time of enjoyment on either vehicle.

The BMW iDrive is awesome, better tech than Kia. I just sold a 2018 X3 M40i, and my advice to you: buy a BMW certified used car with as many option packages as you can afford. We didn’t want to wait either, so we bought a Lexus RX 350L. Miss the fast Bimmer, but wife is happy with the quiet smooth ride. If you get a chance, go drive an X3 M40i...very fast and fun. Cheers.

why did you only wn the BMW X3 M40i for only 1 year or so ? Any costly repairs?

No costly repairs, in fact, no mechanical or electrical issues whatsoever. Wife wanted more comfortable seat and softer suspension. I gave in. I do hope to own another one, and she can drive the Lexus. I will custom order the next one instead of buying one off the showroom floor. Resale is difficult when you are trying to sell a lightly optioned car. I believe that a lot of potential buyers are looking for the Drivers Assist pkgs and adaptive suspension, two things that mine did not have. There are a lot of X3 M40’s for sale in So Cal.; 120 within a 100 mile radius from where I live.

I am back!! Could not pull the trigger on the 2019 BMW X3. I like it a lot (especially iDrive 6 which is like Telluride infotainment) but the damn seats seem really narrow in the X3 and I was really uncomfortable, even after adjusting the side bolsters.

Never had an issue in any other seats before, and I thought the Telluride seats were comfortable.

What was so bad about your BMW?

I had one (330xi 2005 bought used in 2008). Kept it until 2013 and at that point is was only good to go to trash (got 300$ for it). It had all kinds of problems you would never expect, such as lots of bushings replacement, suspension springs breaking, headlights getting water (causing electronics to burn), engine cooling problems, steering wheel vibrations that they were never able to fix and so on.

I swore to myself that no matter what I would never get a BMW again.

Lots of fun to drive, but that's all. Expensive and unreliable.

which one , we had 9 !! , two were LEMONS , yes the real thing ! bought back from BMW . As I've said earlier they are like dating a Super Model , that cheats on you !
"They are like dating a Super Model, that cheats on you!" I love that analogy, sadly or maybe not I have never dated a Super Model. But if I did I think she would be a lot like my Mercedes SL550, beautiful to look at but expensive to maintain and always wondering when she might break my heart.

...............sadly , I've had my heart broken , and I have sworn off BMW/ German ..............read an interesting report today showing LUX brands declining in sales in the 1st Q of this year , I wonder if others like me realize the badge isnt worth it due the the increased Quality/Value of the "Near Lux" mainstream brand offerings ..........dunno , but I'm not going back !
