• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I was driving last night and all of a sudden the dashboard started flashing and telling me many of my sensors were out. Front collision avoidance, high beam assist, etc

Then all of a sudden the power steering went out.

anyone had this happen? Luckily I was close to home and made it but the car now is underivable. Only 1500km.

Yesterday, driving through snow, I got the message that my front proximity sensor (not exactly sure if that's what it's called) wasn't working. I think that's pretty common when it gets covered with snow or ice. I cleared it off and it worked again. So, not like what you experienced. And the steering was fine. I'm guessing you'll take it to the dealer?

I have had some of the front sensors go off from snow, that's normal I guess. None of the service departments are open so I'm stuck for now.

Does Kia give loaner cars? I have a feeling this won't be a quick fix.

Well car went in on Tuesday, they still haven’t told me what is wrong. They are working with Kia Canada apparent? Don’t they have techs that can fix these? They think it’s the electronic power steering motor.

does it really take this long to figure out what’s wrong?

I was doubting the people complaining before I got it, but that doubt is fading.

This is happening with my ’23 Telluride. I totally lost power steering three times. On one of the times all kinds of warning lights came on plus warning messages. I stopped & turned off the engine each time and restarted it and the warnings went off. This seems to be a computer issue but so far the diagnostic codes only show an incident without more info. The Kia dealer checked with the national tech engineers with no luck. I had another major incident yesterday and I will take the car in this week. I hope the codes will identify the problem. I’m beginning to think I bought a lemon.

This happened to me once.

First some alerts, then all of them.

Was convinced my car was possessed by evil forces when driving up to NorCal.

Took it up to the mountains to go snowboarding and when coming down the mountain, lost power steering 15 minutes from my destination which was annoying.

After that the glitch disappeared, it never returned. Had battery and electrical tested, could never recreate/reproduce the glitch.

Gremlins? Sensors triggered by something invisible? No idea.

I’m glad it only happened once for you. Clearly driving a computer-controlled car has a huge downside . For many years cars have been computer assisted, but now it appears to be almost totally controlled by them. And the computers aren’t as reliable as needed.

Did you have any resolution to this?

Your experience is exactly what I’m going through with my ‘23 telluride. Third time I’m at the dealership with the same issue. Problem is they can’t replicate the issue so their computers aren’t giving them any feedback.

I am in my 13th month of periodically losing power steering. They can’t figure out what is on the circuit with the power steering that malfunctions every now & then & takes out the steering. My dealer advices me to get rid of it. Very frustrating. Kia has put on several parts to no avail. I’m trading it in.

I am in month 4 of the same situation. Power steering went out 4 times in that time span. Dealer claimed it was fixed 3 times and sent it back. After the 4th time in shop they claim it’s finally fixed because a connector to the steering under the dash was loose and all they had to do was tighten it. Just Kia wouldn’t give them permission to look at that for so long. Had it back for 2 weeks now and so far no issues, but I’m obviously pessimistic.

When you say “dealer advises me to get rid of it” where do they fall with the warranty?
