• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Car Seats for infants/toddlers/children - How would you rate the Telluride models?

I'm looking into a Telluride as our next vehicle. We have two children, a newborn and a toddler both in car seats for the next 5+ years. For those with kids in car seats, how has the Telluride worked out for you? Can you mount the car seats in the third row if needed? One of the main reasons we are looking at a Telluride is for use of the third row in instances were we may have another friend or family member in the vehicle with us. Is there enough space for an adult between two car seats in the second row? Could an adult get to the third row without having to remove the car seats?

Thanks for any advice!

Great video here from our friends at Kia of Muncie.

You can actually fit 3 seats across in a bench model - if you really want to.

An infant seat would maybe fit best in middle section of a bench - we have an SX with Captains Chairs, and the infant seat goes on passenger side. It requires front passenger seat to be moved forward a bit, but someone can still sit comfortably in front passenger seat. There is one set of latch anchors in 3rd row - so you could put a car seat there if desired. Check out potentially other vids on YouTube.

If you get Captains chairs, then someone can always pass through middle to rear without having to slide seats forward.

I think you'll have plenty of room.

Apparently the Atlas has the best functionality for multiple car seats - but with only two children you should be fine in Telluride.

SXP(Captains) here Have a 5 year old and 9 month old. 5 year old was originally behind driver in front facig, then asked to be in 3rd row...which is great cause now I have 2nd row free seat and third row access. One grandparent sits with 5 year old in back and one with Infant. Infant was in small carrier lock-in, now is in rear facing monster. The front passenger didn't have to be moved up on ours.

Honestly anything more than 2 kids would be way too much for Telluride....but with just 2 it's great.

another thread on this topic here

I use a nuna Pipa Lite in the 2nd row passenger side. Fits fine as long as nobody in the front passenger seat is taller than 6 feet I’d guess. Had 4 adults including myself in the car at one point with the car seat installed. Everybody was comfortable.

If you get a bench seat and you need to access the third row, it probably won’t be easy to move the 2nd row seats out of the way with the car seats installed on the outside seats of the second row.

another annoying thing about car seats on the outside is when the kids toss their toys at the door, it’s likely going to fall outside on the ground once you open the door.

There is a third row anchor on the driver’s side of the car. IIHS website’s recommendations.

I have an EX with 2nd row bench seats. The middle seat on the bench does not have the hooks to latch in a car seat. I can go for the seatbelt, but prefer the superior fit of the latch instead - so we have our car seat in the left.. Not sure what is the OP's preference, but this should give him/her the complete picture.

SXP (captains chairs only) and three kids. 4 years, 2 years and a newborn. The 2 older ones are in the 3rd row in a front facing and convertible car seat. Newborn behind the driver. Still have easy access to the third row to help put kids in. Two large car seats in both captain’s chairs might make it difficult to get to the third row. We also considered the atlas due to flexibility and fitting all three on the bench. Trying to fit someone in our third row between the 2 seats would be torture and near impossible. But enjoyed the ride and features of the telluride much better. Three months into ownership for us and we are still very happy with our ride. Just giving my input in case your family grows (intentional or not)

We have both a front facing and rear facing car seat in the second row and they are very easy to get in/out. We also found that there was adequate room in the middle seat for an adult to fit. (one that does not mind having Cheerios tossed at them).

How do you have the two seats tether in the third row? I assume one with the latches and the other with the seatbelt?

They are both by seat belts although there are latches available if I needed it for one.
