• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... CarPlay Delay

Did anyone get a resolve because I have been having the same issue I have the 12 pro max and I thought it was just me but my husband just updated his phone and he used my car today and it lagged bad the time was even about a min and a half slower

I’ve been noticing delays on really hot days. Buttons aren’t responding very fast.

Have had my 2022 SXP since September and just in the last couple of months the lag after I have Waze open for 10 mins or so is 5-10 seconds which is insane/unacceptable. It’s not the phone. It’s not the cord. It’s just a f&$%ing Kia 😩 it’s driving my OCD crazy lol. Reallllly makes me miss Ford Sync.

I bought a 22 SXP last week and love it, except the CarPlay lag has been driving me crazy. I talked to Apple support and none of their suggestions made a difference. But I was messing with the system yesterday and I think I may have found a solution. If you hit the Phone Projection button, then Apple CarPlay, and check the Use Split Screen box, it seems to fix the problem. The CarPlay display is smaller, which isn't ideal, but it's worth the tradeoff to not have the lag. I drove about 20mins yesterday after changing this setting and the lag was completely gone. You can swipe up and down on the new small area to show weather, time, kia nav, compass, or a couple other things. I think just showing the time is the cleanest option. Hopefully there is a better fix down the road, but this should keep me sane in the meantime.

I contacted Kia and they blamed me and my phone...and now just won't reply to emails. #1 rated mid-size SUV can't even do a software update

Since it’s been a few months have you been able to confirm if this fully eliminated the lag? It’s not ideal, but I agree it’s better than the challenge the lag creates around missed alerts and direction prompts from falling behind

does it lag with google maps (waze is owned by google)?...my wife when using waze is noticing it won't even know where she is sometimes...shows the car being home when we are somewhere else

I also have same issue (20SXP) - delay using CarPlay. Only started happening since been in the KIA garage for the latest recalls which included a software update. Rebooted phone and info screen, still delay. Will be taking back to KIA to resolve.

I have this problem. Happens with google maps using Apple carplay.

Yeah it's been much better, lag is almost non-existent with the smaller display. I switched it back to full screen for a day to test it out and it immediately went back to terrible lag. So small display will remain for now.

I’ve noticed that Google Maps is running about a quarter mile behind from my actual location.

I've had this problem with my 2020 SX for a few years now off and on. I've had 2 different iPhones in this time and both have the same issue. If I unplug the phone and immediately plug it back in it'll catch up but ultimately lag again. I moved to using my iPhone with CarPlay because my Android with Android Auto 1/3 of the screen would just have a black box that says "Android Auto" for the display which is VERY annoying.

I thought about both of those too, but the phone is a brand new iPhone 11 Pro Max and I have tried a few different cables. I guess I am going to have to set up a Genius appointment and see if they can fix it.
Try using a different iPhone. If it does the same with the other iPhone, I would start suspecting it's a Telluride issue. If it's fine with the other iPhone, then it's likely an issue with your own iPhone.

I've been messing with it further and it looks like the issue is with Waze/Google Maps. If you are full screen but use Apple Maps, it works perfectly with no delay. I tried this for several hours on several trips, and not once did it lag. As long as Apple Maps was the last map app that you had opened on CarPlay, it worked great. As soon as I clicked on Waze, the usual lag issues came back. Would be curious to see if this was true for others as well.

My problem was with Google Maps.

I have the same issues. From reading around sounds like Waze and Google Maps are having issues on bigger screens with the last couple of updates on the apps. I used Google maps since I got the car and have issues for last couple of months. Just going to use apple maps until this is fix.

I have restarted the phone and I have noticed this in Waze, but also on the general CarPlay screens. Like I will tap on the playlist I want and will think it didn’t sense my tap so will tap again, then it reacts to the first tap and my second is selecting something else by accident.
It's not the phone. I have the same issue in my Telluride, but when I use the same phone in a different vehicle, it works fine. All map / GPS apps work fine.
