• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... has anyone had an issue with their carplay all of a sudden not recognizing your phone when you plug it in? it was working fine, and now it wont even pull it up! we switched out the cord, updated our phones, etc., but nothing? also, the safety warning message no longer pops up whenever we first turn the car on, which makes me think the car isn’t shutting all the way down system wise… tips?

Not sure if it's a cable thing, but it's happened randomly 3-4 times with me over the course of a year, never anything permanent.

I try to be super careful with the notoriously fragile Apple lighting cord.

If the car shuts off for a while, the iPhone is usually recognized again. Not sure I can isolate the problem to the CarPlay software or the cord. Called Apple and they couldn't give a definitive answer about a hard to reproduce every time software bug, or something with the lighting cord.

Before you drive yourself nuts buying and trying a bunch of cables, you might want to make sure your Kia infotainment system is updated to the latest software. I've had mixed results trying different iPhones but they all seem to get better if I update the iPhone to the latest IOS and the infotainment is running the latest update. I think they definitely include bug fixes for improved phone projection experience with each update. I've had situations after turning on the Telluride when it was hot out and I left the phone in the car plugged into the USB. So I've just made it a habit to unplug the phone and plugging it back in after starting the vehicle. Of course, not going with a cheap cable is cheap. The other thing I've seen on this forum is reports of the USB port connected for the phone going bad. So if it gets worse, you might be able to get some help from the Kia warranty if they can see connectivity inconsistent in the port. There is also one more option, there should be a little pinhole sized button you can hit with a pushpin or paperclip that resets the whole infotainment system. That might help.
