• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Have you applied ceramic tint to your Ride?

If so what brand and how much did it cost you?

I'm in the NYC area and I'm considering putting it on.

Avery Dennison ceramic film in sides, rear and panoramic sunroof. Also windshield (allowed in TX) with the Avery Dennison film for that purpose.

Overall, it is noticeable the heat reduction inside the car, specially after being parked in the sun.

Paid $500 but that's because it is in a small city. In Austin (bigger city and higher incomes and cost of living), I was getting quotes of $800+ with Llumar IRX films and their windshield one.

Not sure of the brand on mine but dealer did it for all windows including the sunroof except windshield for $500 in Fort Worth, TX. This was last year sept

I had some Ceramic film installed on my Telluride this past week. I did on 5% front windows, 20% rear windows, and 70% windshield. It equals out to about 4-5% all around. The brand is Xpel, XR Plus series. Not all ceramic films are created equally. This is considered a nano ceramic film that rejects up to 98% infared. IR films cost more than standard ceramics, but it gets hot down in Texas. I paid $915 with tax.

Btw, Tint darkness or VLT % does not have a huge affect on heat rejection compared to IR rejection values. I've seen 90% vlt ceramic films reject more heat than standard 5% vlt limo tint films.

I suggest you check out some YouTube videos on the difference between Xpel and the rest. I think it's the best film out there.

I'll post a couple pictures of the Telluride later. Here's a spec sheet showing the differences between Xpel series films. For what it's worth, I was quoted about $250 cheaper for their XR series which blocks closer to 85% IR instead of 98% compared to the XR Plus. At 85% it still outperforms most other ceramics.

I didn't do the sunroof because I keep those closed/covered most of the time. The 70% on the windshield is amazing. I have a medical waiver that allows 5% up front and there is no restrictions on the rears. I would have gone 15% in the rear instead of 20% but my installer didn't carry that because of the such small difference and I didn't want to stack 5% on top of the factory privacy glass. They're still matched within 1% VLT.

Did XPEL Prime XR Plus on all windows including the sunroofs. Fronts/rears - $700, Windshield - $320, Sunroof - $520. I never had ceramic tints before just the cheap dyed tints. I'll never go back. The heat dissipation is amazing, and incredibly noticeable if you roll down the window in the sun.

Here's a few garage pics. But I agree, I'll never go back to regular window tint.

Thanks for all the info! I'm in the NYC area and wanted to see what others are paying for the install. I'm still waiting for delivery of the Ride in a few weeks and I was getting my "to do" list ready.

Just make sure you have your yearly inspection figured out since it’s illegal in NY (<70%). Better figuring out that In advance prior to inspection time.

I was wondering how they could tint that much. Looks very sharp but wonder how well can see at night. Where I live we are not even allowed to tint front driver and passenger windows so I couldn’t even add tint.

There's probably a lot more people driving around with illegal window tint than you think. Most cops probably won't stop you strictly for tint unless you were doing something else wrong too.

My windshield with 70% looks extremely clear, I still wear sunglasses on bright days. The side windows at 5% are dark at night, I probably wouldn't recommend it for most people, but I'm used to it. Fortunately the Telluride has a lot of cameras and safety features to help prevent collisions.

The point I was making is that you will fail your yearly inspection in NY unless you have a way around it (e.g. medical waiver, inspector who looks the other way, etc.).

I'm looking to get mine done (Xpel XR 70) soon but don't want to disable the lane assist or any other safety feature.

Any issues with the windshield tint affecting the safety features? I'm planning to get mine tinted soon (Xpel XR 70) but don't want to turn off any of the safety features.

I just got ceramic today. Was going to put the “eyebrow” strip across the top but the tint guy advised me that id be wasting money since as soon as i take it for state inspection, it would be failed because there is no AS1 line marking in the windshield and would have to be ripped off. Called a couple inspection places and they said if no AS1 marking, our state only allows 3inches from top, which isnt much. I thought all vehicle makers had the AS1 markings! Guess kia not thinking you should put tint on the windshield because of the “technology” just decided to not put an AS1 line on it.
