• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... so, i’ve never touched the child locks, ever. two weeks in, 1050 km, and the telly went wild? sounded like my doors would lock and unlock repeatedly.. then the screen between the cluster said “child lock failure”. nothing would stop it before that.. i did the following: put it in park. turned it off. pressed the lock and unlock button on both the driver panel and key fob. opened the door. luckily it stopped on its own.

unfortunately i can’t attach the video but it was soooo strange.

Yep that’s weird

Manual says to bring it into the dealer if you get that error screen. See if you can reproduce the error by pressing that child safety lock switch a few times. They will want to be able to reproduce the problem before they do any repairs most likely.

If you have the problem recorded on video, you can also show it to them as proof. If you want to post it to the forum, you would need to upload to youtube first, then post the link to the video.

Ashuride…my wife owns a 2021 Palisade and she started having the exact same issue. It’s like the vehicle is possessed. Have an appointment with the dealership to see what they can do.

Did it stop for good? I have a new 2021 telluride less than 1,000 miles in and started doing that. My car has been at dealership for almost 2 weeks now and they seem to not be able to figure it out.

they couldn’t replicate it. said the child locks are working fine. i’m now at 5600km and it’s happened a handful of times. i just keep the button off, or turn it on/off as needed. more annoying than anything.

Hey all. Wanted to follow up. Finally got my wife’s Palisade into the dealership. They got it to duplicate and determined the left rear(passenger) door lock actuator is faulting. It’s on order of course so TBD if it fixes the issue. I’ll reach back out once it’s replaced.

I uploaded a video so you can see if your Telluride is faulting the same as the Palisade.

Same thing is happening on my 2021 telluride, only 1274 miles. Found my car unlocked at the end of the day, child lock on and locks opening and closing constantly. Unfortunately I do need the child lock to work to prevent little kids in back from opening the doors and windows…

2021 KIA Telluride SX. Bought new with <100 miles on it. Noticed issue around 2k miles. All locks randomly click from time to time. Has happened with vehicle on and off, in drive and in park, high speed and low speed, radio on and off, issue seems to occur completely at random. Unable so far to isolate any one specific action triggering the event.
We have started recording the events when we can. Here's to hoping the dealership will resolve the issue.

Thanks for the heads up

Update: At dealership now for first oil change. Brought up issue with the child locks clicking intermittently. They too said they've not had reports of it happening and would need to setup diagnostics and catch it in the act to isolate the issue. Oil change (with an appointment schedules months in advance) has still taken an hour. Diagnostics would take another hour or two they say. Unfortunately I don't have the time. I asked that they document the problem for the record. They suggested reaching out to KIA consumer affairs and filing a report with them to make engineering aware of situation and inability to resolve. I will file a report but I encourage others to do the same!

We have a 2021 Sx with 5700 miles. Same problem same response from the dealer. I will reach out to Kia. In other post I have seen where the dealer changed out the lock actuator.

Do you know if changing out the lock actuator resulted in a successful resolution?

Somebody else on this forum said it worked them them. I reached out to Kia and was given a case #. They won't do anything until the dealership can get it to duplicate.

Nice. Cant find this anywhere.

Hey Mike any further update? My wifes brand new Palisade is doing the exact same thing. Taking it to the dealership on the 15th.

Hello. So my wife’s Palisade was finally rotated in for the lock actuator replacement(rear left). So far so good though it has only been 4 days. I’ve messed around trying to duplicate the original fault but have been unable to…which I’m happy about. Hope this helps the argument for y’all and the Kia.
