• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2021 Telluride, AWD and towing package.. at about 30k miles, started hearing faint thump in rear end when barely moving, on passenger side. Going over the slightest bump would hear it. Have had it up on ramps for the last hour, and FINALLY think I've found the culprit. After finding that both rear axles can move back and forth with little force, it wasn't the same sound. As I pushed up and down in the rear end from under the car... I found it. There is a dust "boot" that covers half of the shocks. When I tugged on the passenger side one, the sound appeared!!! I twisted it and sound stopped. I've got it scheduled for service next week, and see what the fix would be, but thankful I think i found the sound.... without replacing shocks and or suspension.

if it isn’t this, do you have something in the under floor storage in the rear that could make the noise?

Welcome. Moving this out of the forum lounge and into the Telluride section...

@Skesner following; I have been hearing a similar thumping sound in my ‘20 SX AWD w/ towing package. It is definitely more distinct when I first drive the Telly out of the driveway and seems to dissipate after a few miles, or I just loose the sound once I get things going up on normal road speeds. Please post your results of service call once they look it over!

Search the forum on this topic. Multiple threads on this issue. The Nivomat shocks frequently fail on Towing pkg equipped vehicles. Had my dealer swap them out for standard shocks & springs. Problem solved.

Enjoy the ride.

I'll definitely have dealer check shocks thoroughly. Thanks

Did this end up being the issue? Having the same problem and my dealership can't figure it out. They replaced the strut thinking it was leaking but same noise

Well.. now at 76,000 miles on my '21 EX AWD w/ tow pack, I'm replacing rear shocks again!! 3rd set in 2 years. I've never towed, and don't go offroad. The "self leveling" shocks are a joke!!.

Still wondering if it's my shocks. Strangely, in the winter, I don't hear the noise only when the weather is warm. Why is that? If it was the shocks I would think I would hear the noise all year round.

I'm curious on this issue too since going through the same issue with my 2022 Kia Telluride SX with only 12K miles on it!

Curious as well. I have the same issue.

My 2024 with 700 miles on it was making a similar noise -- highly noticeable when just pulling out of the driveway and going at slow speeds exiting my neighborhood. They replaced the right rear shock and that fixed it. Mechanic said they've had some problems with that.

Having same issue with my 2024. Shocks or struts?
