• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey everyone,

Just got a new SX. Can anyone point me to a helpful thread or youtube video on the cruise control modes? I have tried watching a few but didn't think they were detailed or instructional enough in nature.

Today I thought the lane following was straight forward but was tough for me to tell if I was locked into a speed like 50 mph or if I would also need to apply the brake for vehicles ahead. Additionally, I tried to put it into different distances modes but felt I was doing something wrong as it seemed to brake with no reason to.

Thanks for the help!

At least in the SX Prestige:
If you've got HDA enabled, it will keep the distance you specify from the car in front of you at the maximum speed you set OR however fast the car in front of you is going. If your max speed is set to 80, the leading car is going 70, you will stay at 70... and when the lead car switches lanes - you speed up to 80. Hard to describe but - if the info panel is showing a line drawn from your car to the "brick" driving in front of you, it's tracking the lead car and will not accelerate to that car any closer than you specified. Even the closest of the four pre-set distances is (in my opinion) a healthy distance from the lead car.

The car WILL brake for you, literally to a stop. To resume cruise driving from a stop, you click "up speed" on the wand or tap the gas and it starts again. I drive a LOT this way now, as I typically accelerate/brake heavy and the car honestly drives itself more comfortably for my family. :)

Much of this I learned just from experimenting. I'm embarrassed to say, I had no idea it did everything it does when I bought it... when the dealer said "it drives itself", I thought he was exaggerating. I had no idea it stopped, switched lanes, rounded curves, etc. on its own. Pleasantly surprised!

This might help:

It's no longer called "cruise control" (Standard or Smart). It's now called "Speed Limit Assist" (Manual or Intelligent).

If it's on cruise, and I use the brake, red light no leading vehicle, how do I re-engage cruise? I found I have to turn it off and turn it back on.

Two ways to re-engage. Push "IN" on the toggle (or whatever it's called). This will re-engage at the previous speed you set it. Or if you press up on it, it will re-engage but at whatever your current speed is - then you can adjust up or down on the speed.

1. You may be able to just press the center toggle button to re-engage cruise at the pre-set speed.

2..if the car doesn't like that or you would prefer, you can press the accelerator and as you get moving, then press the toggle button to re-engage cruise at the previous setting.

If you hit the toggle up or down, it will re-engage at that current speed.

I drive in the mountains and regularly disengage and re-engage cruise by pressing the toggle button.
