• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Dash cam install

Anyone hardwire a dash cam or radar detector in their Telluride yet? If so, where did you tap into? Going to try this week but was hoping to save some time if somebody already did it.
Blazing a trail... nice. Let us know what u find. Thanks

Wiring up some led footwell lighting, only wired to cigarette lighter for now but ordered a micro II adapter from eBay and found a 7.5 Acc switched fuse I’m going to tap into with this

This fuse under dash.

Thanks, that is where I was going to try too but didn't have any micro2 fuse taps available. If that works let us know, right now I have it plugged directly into the USB charging port as well

When are dash cams going to become an optional feature?! This seems like a missed opportunity by all the brands...

Agreed with all the cameras and USB ports they are adding to cars it should be an easy feature to add-on. Just plug in a 64gb thumbdrive into the car and turn on recording like the Tesla Model 3. I ended up installing about a dozen of them in my friends cars just from all the crazy stuff I've recorded.

Nice. Good find.

I ended up just wiring my dash cam to the USB port in the center arm rest storage unit, since I really have no use for that area for a USB device. My rear dash cam is wired to the cigarette lighter in the back.

Is there a auxiliary fuse that turns on and off with the car that I can wire the dash cam.

From what I understand, there is too much liability. Every States laws are different. We'll see when the new Sonata hits the US market. It has one built in the Rear View Mirror. Hopefully it will be an option in the States, then everyone else will follow along.

What liability?
Recording people in places where there should be privacy. Or where they have not consented to be recorded. Some states don't allow cameras in cars for that reason.

If a 7.5 fuse is large enough for your cam, see my post here on 3/24 for switched fuse I used.

I want to use USB c. What fuse is that in the fuse box

I would think that could be remedied by buying a dash cam without audio recording. It seems to have more to do with occupants conversation than what might be picked on video in public places. The other issue is many states makes it illegal to mount anything to you windshield but you can get around that by dash mounting the camera.

I just want to document any crashes that might involve me.

Interesting, the supreme court has upheld that people in public have no expectation or right to privacy, you are in a public area.
