• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 1) Can someone help me understand exactly what a dealer allotment is? I have read in some threads to ask a dealer to place one's order with their allotment.

2) Is there a way to know that a VIN you see in failcat is going to dealer for stock vs an existing order?

1) Basic principal is you sell more cars, Kia manufacturer will send you more cars to sell. Other contributing factors would be metropolitan areas or high market interest (ie. AWD in northeast). Higher allotment/allocation dealers will be able to fulfill more orders per month and receive more inventory. There is a catch though, if a bunch more people are in line for orders at one dealer, this will still result in long waits until you will get your car.

Find out the trim you want, look at how many units of that same trim the dealer you are interested in sells per month. Find out how many are in line for the trim you want at that dealer. This will give you an idea of how long the wait will be.

2) No way to tell from failcat or on the dealer websites. Only can find out by asking the dealer over the phone or in person. Remember not to mention failcat website when you do.

This was super helpful. Thank you!

When I put my first custom order in the dealership gave me the same line that they get more Tellurides because they sell a ton of them. However, after three months of my order not being accepted I gave up. I started calling dealers and asking if they had any coming in that didn't have deposits on them and finally found one.
