  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I'm terribly indecisive, lol. On one hand, I really want the surround-view monitor, the automatic wipers, and a few other things that can only be gotten with the SX-P package. On the other hand, I dont want to pay $5k more for those options, lol.

I found a dealer that doesn't charge above MSRP and still takes off the current incentives, but I'm thinking about trying out a federal employee buying program that supposedly gets the price down to invoice, or close to it.

Forget the SX-P, get the SX, it has what you listed....

More than EX-P, but cheapers than SX-P.

I am curious how the federal employee buying program work for you on the Telluride. I am a retired federal employee and I tried several buying programs but there were "no participating dealers here in the Virginia area". The only participating dealers were in Connecticut and Texas, which is too far. I was very disappointed to find this out.

Hopefully, it goes well! If not, I've got a fall-back to the local dealership. Do you mind me asking which programs you were going to try?

I'm extremely analytical and no matter how I sliced and diced the values, dollar for dollar the SXP is too good of a deal IMO.

Day in and day out I couldn't imagine spending $5-8k less just to save a couple bucks each month or per/mile, etc... (however you want to break it down). Everyone has different needs, for us it was more of a do it right and do it once so we don't have to do it again anytime in the near future.

I would ask yourself this, why not an SX-P? Assuming you can just as easily afford $45-48k as $38-43k. If money is a limiting factor that's a different conversation.

I never considered the EX due to the lack of LED headlights. Between an SX and SXP, I went with a standard SX. I’ve never had a heads up display so I won’t miss it. I don’t care about heated and cooled second row since we only have an infant child and we’ve never used the rear heated seats in my G80 or wife’s Grand Cherokee. The reviews here stated the leather wasn’t such an upgrade to justify the price difference.

The only feature I’m going to miss is the 110 inverter. Fortunately I can buy them for <$20 on Amazon.

That all makes sense, but I must also add, if you ever do get a vehicle with HUD, you will never want another without. My Stinger had the HUD and the Telluride had to have it...I just can't see ever having another vehicle without it now. We have guests in our back seats, so heated and cooled was a big plus. It all depends on your needs/wants.

The programs I tried were the Navy Federal Credit Union, Pentagon Credit Union and Costco. Like I said currently there are no participating dealers near where I live for the Telluride. I have used these programs in the past to purchase vehicles and were pleased. I did order the SX AWD with the prestige package and several options.

When I was looking at what to buy, I had only 2 requirements: power folding mirrors (i have taken 2 mirrors off other vehicles backing out of my garage) and heated steering wheel. Since I purchased my SX-P, one other option is now on my must have list: HUD :)

if your debating, get the SX-P. you will never second guess yourself if you do, but you will always wonder if you don't. I love my SX-P, no regrets.

I second this. I have a Chevy SS (Corvette Powered RWD Limited Production Sports Sedan for those that aren't Chevy fans) that has a HUD as standard equipment. After having a car with HUD - I swore I would never own another car without a HUD. Honestly this is one of the first things that tipped me off to the Telluride SXP. Yes - there are lots of other features - but this is one that you will use every single day. Kudos to KIA for offering it on the Telluride.

I love my built in HUD. However, an add-on HUD can be had for less than $50. Check amazon...

yes they can, but not the quality and functionality of the stock one.

That is true about some of the cheapest ones. Others, imo, have as good of resolution as the Telly and more functionality.

Anyway, just giving an option to the financially strapped.

Plus you have something sitting on your dash that you either have to put away every time you park or risk having your car broken into to steal. Some do have more functionality - but the integration of a factory unit is superior in my opinion. But...if you can't afford the top trim Telluride - a portable unit is better than nothing.

Ditto!!

I just picked up my SX-P a week and a half ago. You are absolutely right! The HUD and LED lights are amazing. I love my SX-P too. It was worth it.
