Maybe with a mid-cycle refresh for MY 2023, but not before. Is it too much to ask for a digital cockpit for the telluride like the sorento and carnival have??
I was really wanting the digital gauges because it's surely the future of all vehicles, and I think they look pretty nice in the Palisade. (Not to mention how nice they look in Audis and Porsches). But then I saw what they have in the Carnival, and in my opinion it looks pretty cheesy. It's very 2-D, no shading or anything to give it depth. If they were just going to put the Carnival's digital gauges in the Telluride, I wouldn't want them. People are going to look back at these cheaper early applications of the digital gauges and cringe at how bad they are. Don't put them in unless they look very high end.Maybe with a mid-cycle refresh for MY 2023, but not before.
We’re not actually missing out on much… the Hyundai/Kia digital instrument cluster is not very customizable at all. Really, the main benefit we would see is having the blind view monitor reflect the side of the turn signal you have engaged (rather than it being in the middle on the current Telluride SX setup).
Well said! I had a 2020 Sonata before I got the 21 Telluride and while the digital cockpit looks pretty cool at first, like others have mentioned there is MINIMAL customization to it at least with Kia/Hyundai which really puts a damper on things, if they had it where it was like Audi where you can get maps, phone projection, audi info, that type of stuff from it then its a different story. An all-digital gauge cluster is one of the most overhyped, trendy things that (in most implementations) has limited actual utility -- and I'm a tech head. Unless you can put your Carplay nav apps on it, as Tellthemride said, it's kind of pointless in my opinion. I really like the Telluride's setup with two physical gauges and a decent sized full color screen in the middle. Best of both worlds -- IMO a couple of well designed physical gauges look nicer than than the entire thing being a flat screen.
Agree. If it first of all looks super nice (shading, 3-D effect, line widths / line smoothness, smooth graphical transitions during changes) and secondly is super customizable (colors, size, which gauges / information go where) then I'm all for it. But if it looks like something that was made in MS Paint on a Windows XP machine (how the Carnival's display looks to meWell said! That's pretty cool. That slide over feature is premium, but not necessary imo, just another thing that can break and costs extra $$. Everything is smooth and there's shading on the graphics - well done.Lexus has an awesome one. Back in 2013 they had it.
